Nancy L. Novak

Nancy L. Novak, 84, died Monday, August 1, 2022 in The Gardens for Memory Care at Easton. Born March 21, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Evelyn Lottie (Mowrey) Cressman. She was a sewing machine operator for Zawick Manufacturing Co., Hellertown.

Surviving are her sisters, Vivian Ames and her husband, Michael and Ginny Danner and her husband, John. Her husband, Peter Novak and her son, Robert Getz predeceased her.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Thursday, August 4, 2022 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Charles E. Schubert

Charles E. Schubert

Charles E. Schubert, 90, of Baldwinsville, NY passed away peacefully Monday, August 1, 2022 at Francis House in Syracuse, NY. Born June 27, 1932 in Easton, PA, he was a son of the late Rudolf and Wella (Mueller) Schubert. He was a 1950 graduate of Bethlehem High School and received his BS in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University in 1955 where he was a member of the ATO Fraternity.

Charles was a Manufacturing Engineer at Carrier Corp, Syracuse, NY for 29 years before retiring in 1987. In retirement, he had a successful business as a piano and player piano technician and tuner, fondly known as “Charlie the Tuner”. He was head piano technician for many years at Tringali Piano and Organ Co. and Martin’s Pianos in Syracuse. He was the piano technician for the Syracuse University Drama Department and Syracuse Stage for 14 years until 2001. He was also Director of Maintenance and Restoration for The Empire State Theater and Musical Instruments Museum from 1966 until 1997 and was an honorary life member. He oversaw the moving, restoring, and installing of the Wurlitzer Theater organ from the RKO Keith’s Theater, Syracuse to the current home at the NY State Fairgrounds. Charles was also a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Baldwinsville.

He is survived by his son: David (Cara) Schubert of Phoenix, NY; his daughter: Judy (Tim) Farrelly of Baldwinsville; grandchildren: Lucas (Angelina Roher) and Shannon Farrelly, Madeline and Allison Schubert and great-granddaughter: Sophia Farrelly. He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years: Vera Dungan Schubert in 2006 and his brother Rudolph Schubert.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 AM Monday (August 8, 2022) at the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with a calling period from 10 to 10:30 AM. Lynn R. Werner

Lynn R. Werner, 66, of Palmer Township, died Monday, August 1, 2022 in her home. Born October 7, 1955 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Ellwood R. and Doris M. (Woffenden) Morris. She and her husband, William H. Werner were married 28 years. Lynn was an x-ray technician for Easton Radiology and was a member of St. Paul’s Third Lutheran Church, Palmer Township.

Surviving with her husband, William, are her daughter, Jamie Lynn Goffredo; her brother, James D. Morris; and three grandchildren.

Stephanie L. Fazekas

Stephanie L. Fazekas, 58, died Wednesday, July 27, 2022 surrounded by loved ones. Born November 21, 1963 in Easton, she was the daughter of Sandra (Haydu) Peters and her husband, Carl, and the late Phillip J. Fazekas. She was a direct caregiver at LifePath for over 10 years and was a member of New Christian Harvest Church, Allentown. Stephanie was a loving, compassionate caregiver for her LifePath family and she always went above and beyond for them. She loved Jesus, the Grateful Dead, the beach and most importantly, her grandchildren.

Surviving with her mother, Sandra, are two sons, Jevan Fazekas and Brad Snyder; two brothers, Daniel Fazekas and Michael Fazekas; her sister, Stacy Fazekas; two grandchildren, Jevan, Jr. and Ava; and her step sister, Beth Peters-Ferrara. She was predeceased by her brother, Randy Fazekas. Many thanks to her best friend, Joe Thomas, who was this family’s rock and continually by her side since the beginning of this difficult journey. A special thanks to Mark, John, and Beth of Mark Minotti Law Offices for assisting her with all things legal. Also, to Ashton Funeral Home for their compassionate, loving, and understanding services to our family. And thank you to all who visited and kept her lifted in prayer. We are eternally indebted to each and every one of you.

Yvonne M. Segreaves

Yvonne M. Segreaves, 85, formerly of Forks Township, died Wednesday, July 20, 2022 in Country Meadows. Born September 26, 1936 in Easton, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Alberta (Hearn) Gall. Her husband, Irvin E. Segreaves died in 2020. She graduated from Easton High School in 1954, Cedar Crest College in 1992 and received her master’s degree from Marywood University in 1995. She worked for Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice until retiring in 2006. Prior to that she worked for VNA of Easton and the Martin Cohen law firm. She was a member of Arndt’s Lutheran Church, and volunteered for the State Theatre, Easton Hospital, Musikfest, and Zoellner Arts Center.

Surviving are three sons, Edward Kerbaugh, Donald Kerbaugh, and Gerald Kerbaugh; a daughter, Karen Lyman Taibi; six grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 19, 2022 in the Stewartsville Lutheran Cemetery. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements. Ruth C. Volkert

Ruth C. Volkert, 98, formerly of Forks Township, died Tuesday, July 19, 2022 in Lehigh Valley Hospice. Born February 24, 1924 in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Kate (Slimmer) Strausser. Her first husband, Forrest S. Frey, Sr. died in 1955 and her second husband, Jack F. Volkert died in 2009. Ruth was a member of the former Memorial United Church of Christ, Easton and worked at Binney and Smith for eight years. She was also and avid crocheter.

Surviving are two daughters, Eileen DiVietro and Jacquelyn DeLong; seven grandchildren, Paul Bauchspies, Sondra Pacchioli, Forrest Frey, III, Christine England, Kate Pettit, Erik DiVietro, and Kristyn Marshall; twenty-two great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren. Her son, Forrest Frey, Jr; her daughter, Ellen Bauchspies; her brother, Charles Strausser, Jr.; her sisters, Mary Elliott and Gertrude Cortright; and her grandsons, James Bauchspies and Robert Bauchspies died earlier.

Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, July 25, 2022 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Evelyn M. Hardy

Evelyn M. Hardy, 96, formerly of Bethlehem Township, died Monday, July 18, 2022 at Gracedale. Born December 14, 1925 in Bethlehem Township, she was the daughter of the late William and Dorothy Moser. Her husband, Allen V. Hardy, Jr. died in 2019. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1944 and was a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Easton and the Ambassador’s Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen Hardy-Kutz of Palmer Township and Denise Klabunde and her husband, Scott, of Palmer Township; a son, Allen “Skeeter” Hardy, III and his wife, Sandra, of Greensboro, NC; seven grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Betty Rehrig and Eleanor Madura.

Karen Sue George, 64 of Forks Twp., PA died Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at home. Born December 24, 1957 in Gaylord, MI, she was a daughter of Verda (Schwendener) Simms, with whom she resided and the late William Simms, Sr. She was a graduate of Easton High School and the St. Luke’s School of Nursing. Karen had been employed by the Brookmont Health Care Center in Effort, PA as a nurse administrator.

She is survived by her mother, Verda; sisters: Pamela Smith and Marsha Simms; brothers: William, Jr., Glenn and Mark Simms; and her many beloved nieces and nephews. A sister, Sharon Simms died earlier.
