Matthew Allen Bailey

Matthew Allen Bailey

Matthew Allen Bailey, 42 of Palmer Twp., PA died Monday, December 6, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill, PA. Born July 26 1979 in East Stroudsburg, PA he was a son of Ernest “Butch” Bailey of Wilson Borough, PA and the late Beverly Whittaker. He was a graduate of Wilson High School and employed by Tyrex Resources in Saylorsburg, PA prior to his illness.

In addition to his father, Butch, he is survived by his stepmother: Virginia Bailey; brothers: Mike and Joe Bailey, Steve and Dave Kaiser; sisters: Christine Oberly (husband David), Shawne Bailey, Misty Parrish, Christine Tomino, Anita Reph; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of his Life will be held Friday, December 10 at 5:30 PM at the East Bangor Fire Hall, 30 East Central Ave., East Bangor, PA. Carolyn M. Kichline

Carolyn Mae Kichline, 91, of Forks Twp., PA, died December 6, 2021 at Country Meadows in Bethlehem, PA. Born October 19, 1930 in Easton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clare (Harding) and Robert Thomas. She was a 1948 graduate of Wilson High School and played clarinet in the school marching band and orchestra.  She enjoyed bowling in leagues at BarDon Lanes and developed an interest in antiques later in life. She was also an avid bird watcher and photographer.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, LCDR Richard F. Kichline, USN-Ret.; her children: Sue Ann Kichline (Dr. Mark Zaucha) of Baltimore, MD; Karen Kichline Ruef (David) of Charleston, SC; SSgt Curtis Kichline, USAF-HD (Barbara) and Kathie Enea (Dr. Ned Enea), both of Palmer Twp.; and Amy English (CPT Andrew English, USAR-Ret.) of Huntsville, AL; and her grandchildren: Dr. Michael Enea; Emma Enea; Joseph Kichline; Jennifer Zaucha; ENS Nathan English, USN; and Grace English. She was predeceased by her brothers Robert and Richard Thomas.

Richard A. “Dick” Kendrick

Dick was born in Houston, Texas in 1947 to Ruth(Ford)Kendrick and Richard A. Kendrick. He grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Colorado Springs where he graduated from Palmer High School. He graduated from Colorado College, Colorado Springs in 1969 and attended graduate school at UC Davis. He spent a year in Paris, France studying mime at Ecole Jacques Lecoq. He earned his MA degree in Theatre at the University of Northern Colorado where he met his wife, Polly Mikkelson who is a costume designer.

He served as an assistant professor at Colorado College and moved to a similar position at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois.

He and Polly moved to Easton, PA in 1983. Dick was for decades the designer and technical director at the Williams Center at Lafayette College for over 70 productions.

He retired to exclusively freelance theater set and lighting design forming a company called “Blue Floor” with his friend and business partner, Vicki Neal.

Over his career he designed sets or lighting for many productions at Cedar Crest College, the Pearl Theater (NYC), City Theater Company in Delaware, Lehigh University, the National Shakespeare Company, Wagner College, Northampton Community College and more.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years Polly and a brother David and wife Betty in Idaho.

There will be a memorial next summer to celebrate his life and his many contributions to the Performing Arts.

Gary C. Goodwin

Gary C. Goodwin, 67, of Easton, died Friday, December 3, 2021 in his home. Born April 28, 1954 in Easton, he was a son of the late Clifford M. and Hazel H. (Haldeman) Goodwin.
He owned a private practice in psychology in the Lehigh Valley for over 30 years. Prior to that he worked for Northampton County. He graduated from Easton Area High School in 1972 and received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Franklin and Marshall College, his master’s degree in psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University and his MBA from Lehigh University.

Surviving are his sister, Gloria J. Ruta and her husband, Sam and nieces and nephews.

Paul James Macher

Paul James Macher, 84 of Palmer Twp., PA died Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at his daughter’s home in Forks Twp., PA. Born in Easton, PA he had been employed by Mack Printing and Schaeffer Appliance in Easton for many years before retiring. He received an associate degree from Northampton County Community College and was a very active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Forks Twp.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Frances Schurz; 2 daughters: Kimberly Macher (husband Erik Wendt) of Forks Twp., PA, Jamie Gante (husband Jeff) of Camp Hill, PA; brother: George Macher; sister: Gloria Conrad; 4 grandchildren: Joshua, Jeremy, Matthew, Nicole; a great-granddaughter: Alyssa; and 2 step-great grandchildren: Ashley and Christopher.

Services are 2 PM Sunday (Dec. 5) in Faith Lutheran Church, 2012 Sullivan Trail, Easton, PA 18040 with visitation from 1 to 2 PM in the church. Burial will be 11:30 AM Monday in Northampton Memorial Shrine. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Keith J. Bartley, Sr.

Keith John Bartley, Sr., 64 of Brooklyn, NY died Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Maimonides Hospital, Brooklyn. Born November 30, 1956 in Boston, MA he was a son of the late RoseMarie (Lojo) and John Bartley. He worked with his son at ABC Tank in Brooklyn for many years. Keith was a born-again Christian who loved sharing his faith with others.

He is survived by 4 children: Robert Costa and Katelyn Bartley of Palmer Twp., PA, Keith Bartley, Jr. of Brooklyn, NY, Tiffany Costa of Easton, PA; his former wife: Jeanice Bartley of Easton; a twin brother: Kevin Bartley and 6 grandchildren.

Joel B. Nixon

Joel B. Nixon, 83 of Saylorsburg, PA formerly of Wilson Borough died Sunday, November 28, 2021 at home. Born April 20, 1938 in Phillipsburg, NJ he was the son of the late Sally (Dingler) and Earl and Elizabeth Nixon. He was employed by Ashland Chemical for many years before retiring. Joel was an Army Veteran, a member of Teamster Local #773 and life member of Citizen’s Hose Club.

He is survived by two sons: Ronald (wife Julie) with whom he resided, Robert (wife Lisa) of Nazareth, PA; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Denise Nadine Bartholomay

Denise Nadine Bartholomay, 58, of Lehighton, died Saturday, November 27, 2021 in Lehigh Valley Hospital. Born April 24, 1963 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Albert Kleedorfer and Shirley (Sowers) Vine. She was a member of Bangor Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are her children, Robert, Garrett, Braden, and Brienna Bartholomay; and a sister, Laura Kleedorfer. A brother, Harry “Tony” Bartholomay and a sister, Shirl Lynn Jacobson died earlier.
