Kevin A. Williams

Kevin A. Williams, 61, of Bethlehem, died Tuesday, March 16, 2021 in Lehigh Valley Hospital. Born June 22, 1959 in Easton, he was the son of Lois (Brown) Williams and the late Kenneth Williams.

He was a graduate of Easton Area High School where he played in the band. He served in the U.S. Marines as a cook aboard the USS Holland and was a chef at Saucon Valley Country Club for 15 years. Kevin was a life member of the Marine Corps League, Northampton County Detachment, #298 and a member of the Military Order of the Devil Dogs. He was also a member of the Joint Veterans Council where he was the coordinator and a recipient of the Veteran of the Year award. Kevin also arranged for the award to be given to 1979 Iranian Hostage Crisis captive, Sgt. Kevin Hermening.

Surviving with his mother, Lois, are his children, Wendy and Ashleigh and his sister, Debra. His sister, Tracy died earlier.

A service with military honors will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, in the Easton Cemetery Chapel, North 7th Street, Easton. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Russell J. Redfern, Sr

Russell J. Redfern Sr., 89, of Williams Township, PA passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Gardens of Easton Memory Care.

Born September 9, 1931 in Easton, PA, he was a son of the late Nelson C. and Marie (Keiser) Redfern.

Russell graduated from Easton High School Class of 1949. He was an apprentice for three years with Local 375 Electrical Workers Union.
He retired from Local 375 Electrical Workers Union as an electrician in 1995.

Russell served in the US Army during the Korean War. Russell enjoyed going to square dances with his late wife June Redfern. They were married for 41 years. He also enjoyed playing his organ and mall walking with his friends.

Surviving family members are his son Russell Redfern Jr and his wife Jael of Easton, PA, granddaughter Savannah Redfern, sister-in-law, Joan Redfern, nieces Susan Rushin and Marti Lepri, nephews, James Redfern, and Thomas Redfern. He was predeceased by his sister, Marie (Redfern) Eyer and his brother Nelson Redfern.

Services will be private. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Lois A. Yiaski

Lois A. Yiaski, 65 of Center Valley, PA died Tuesday, March 9, 2021. Born July 20, 1955 in Phillipsburg, NJ she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Marion (McInerney) Marchie. She was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School and had been employed by Valley Oral Surgery for many years. 

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Joseph Yiaski, III; her daughter: Carly Yiaski of Center Valley; her sister: Jane Gregan of Belvidere, NJ; and a brother: Joseph Marchie of SC. Her baby boy, Aaron Joseph Yiaski, predeceased her.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 PM Sunday (March 14) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, PA. A Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date.

Elizabeth J. “Betty” Barton

Elizabeth "Betty" Barton

Elizabeth J. “Betty” Barton, 94 formerly of Wilson Borough, PA died Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Alexandria Manor, Nazareth, PA. Born June 6, 1926 in Changewater, NJ she was a daughter of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Laumer) Rush. A 1944 graduate of Wilson High School, she taught nursery school at First Presbyterian Church, Easton and St. Paul’s III Lutheran Church in Palmer Twp. for many years before retiring. Betty was an active member of St. Peter’s UCC in Tatamy and served on Consistory and in the choir at St. Peter’s and the former Memorial UCC, Wilson. She had been a Judge of Elections in Wilson and active in the PTA. Betty loved to bowl and was a member of a bowling league.  She also enjoyed making pies.

She is survived by her daughters: Marsha Miller of Fairfax, VA, Patricia Lebresco (Nicholas) of West Chester, PA, and Carol Recker (Glenn) of Allentown, PA; 9 grandchildren: Craig Miller (Ann), Christopher Lebresco (Lindsay), Mark Lebresco (Kristen), Philip Lebresco (Krista), Jenna Winchenbach (Jason), Elizabeth Remaly (Chad), Brandon Beebe (Miranda), Glenn Recker (Sara) and Thomas Recker; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas “Frank” Barton, Jr. in 1992, her son: Thomas Barton, III in 2012, her grandson: Todd Miller in 2003 and her brother: Robert Hagenbach in 2007.

A Visitation will be held from 5 to 6:30 PM Friday (Mar. 12) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with a graveside service 11 AM Saturday at Northampton Memorial Shrine, 3501 Green Pond Rd., Easton. A Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date.

Kay J. Bisset

Kay J. Bisset

Kay Jean Bisset, 85, of Palmer Twp., PA died Monday, March 8, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospice House. Born in Dunkirk, NY she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Jane (Bartlett) Johnston. She grew up in the Bradford, PA area where she graduated from Bradford High School in 1953. Upon graduating from Allegheny College with honors in 1957, she taught first grade for several years before and after her marriage to Allegheny classmate Jim Bisset in 1959. They lived in Philadelphia and Reading during Jim’s medical school and training. They became parents in 1961 with the birth of twin daughters and lived in Germany for three years while Jim completed service in the US Army before coming to Easton to practice medicine in 1969. Child rearing and volunteering then became her focus.

A dedicated volunteer, Kay was a Girl Scout leader, softball coach, member of Easton Hospital’s Junior Auxiliary, and she volunteered for the American Cancer Society, March of Dimes, American Heart Association and Meals on Wheels. She was also a member and secretary of the Board of Directors of the Weller Center for Health Education and President of its Apple Corps. She belonged to College Hill Presbyterian Church and Northampton Country Club. Kay enjoyed winters in Vero Beach, FL for 16 years, was an avid reader, and loved crossword puzzles, playing Bridge and being a grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dr. James F. Bisset, Jr.; twin daughters: Cathy Bisset (husband Chris Andrews) of South Salem, NY and Cindy Bisset of Marlton, NJ; 5 grandchildren: Justin and Zachary Andrews, Connor, Cailin and Claire Flannery.

Genoveva “Genny” Leiser

Genoveva “Genny” Leiser, 90, of Plainfield Township, died Wednesday, March 3, 2021 in her home. Born January 24, 1931 in Sinaia, Romania, she was a daughter of Maria Brinzea. Her husband, Donald W. Leiser died in 2006.

Genny was an avid bowler and golfer and won many trophies at Sawmill Golf Course. She also enjoyed traveling the world and she assisted her husband with the family business, Leiser’s Rental.

Surviving are her companion, William Toth; three children, Robert Leiser and his wife, Barbara, Michael Leiser and his wife, Marlene, and Sandra Walter and her husband, Ken; four grandchildren, Richard and his wife, Meghan, Robert and his wife, Emily, Rachel, and Angie and her husband, Travis; and five great grandchildren, Ava, Mia, Ali, Luca, and Lilly. Her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Elio “Chuck” Uliana died earlier.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Dorothy E. Weikel

Dorothy E. Weikel, 86, died Monday, February 22, 2021 in the Gardens at Easton.

Born September 16, 1934 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Catherine (Kelly) Carlin. Her husband, Floyd L. Weikel died in 1980.

Surviving are her children, Tim Weikel, Sharon Johnston and Julie Mockler; a sister, Catherine Fishburn; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Private graveside services were held at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler, PA. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Shirley M. Heil

Shirley M. Heil, 92 formerly of Palmer Twp., PA died Friday, February 19, 2021 at Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth, PA. Born June 30, 1928 in East Stroudsburg, PA she was a daughter of the late Myrtle (Mader) and Percy Marvin. A graduate of Churchman’s Business College, she had been employed by the State of PA at the Bureau of Employment Security in Easton for more than 20 years before retiring. Shirley was a member of Palmer Moravian Church, Palmer Twp. where she served as a Sacristan. She was also a member of Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 214 and Cedarettes, Easton Forest #35.

She is survived by her children: Sally A. Horne (companion Ed Henry) of Portland, OR, Timothy C. Heil (fiancé Amber) of Palmer Twp., Anne Fritts (husband John) of York, PA; grandchildren: Jennifer Heil, Jeffrey Horne (Nicole), Kevin Heil (Susan), Bradley Horne (Kari), Kelcie Fritts Hartman (Justin), Allison Fritts Zechman (John), Aubrie Kocher (Ryan); and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband: Charles H. Heil in 2007 and siblings: Marjorie Hunt and Willard Marvin.

A Graveside Service will be held 11:30 AM, Friday, Feb. 26 at Northampton Memorial Shrine, 3051 Green Pond Rd., Easton with visitation 10 to 11 AM in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.
