Sheila M. Goldberg

Sheila M. Goldberg, 96, of Forks Township, died Thursday, September 24, 2020 in her home.

Born March 14, 1924 in Westcliff-on-Sea, England, she was the daughter of the late Abraham “Arthur” J. Richmond and Julia “Sulka” (Scheinman) Richmond and step-daughter of Lillian (Levy) Richmond.

Sheila grew up in England and Canada, eventually immigrating to the US in the 1950s.
She was an active volunteer in Israel’s founding, earned a PhD in Psychology and served as a member of numerous educational and religious organizations. She was most proud of her efforts founding Hillel’s Kosher Dining Club at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.

Surviving are her children, Julia Goldberg, Jay Goldberg, and Barry Goldberg and his wife Susan; grandchildren David Goldberg and his wife Christine, Daniel Goldberg and his wife Caitlin; and daughter-in-law, Gina Ferguson-Goldberg; and great grandchild John Felix Goldberg. Her husband, Dr. Samuel I. Goldberg; siblings, Donald W. Richmond, Stanley J. Richmond, and Rosalind Richmond; and stepmother, Lillian Richmond died earlier.

Services will be private. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Lourie Krahwinkel

Lourie Krahwinkel, 64 of Wilson Borough, PA died Monday, September 21, 2020 at Pocono Medical Center. Born January 10, 1956 in Easton, PA she was a daughter of the late Violet (Kunkle) and Oliver C. Border. She had been employed by Georgia-Pacific/Dixie Co. for 21 years before retiring.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years: Henry Krahwinkel; 3 children: Karen Horinko (husband Jamie) of West Easton, Erich Krahwinkel and Beth Keifer of Wilson Borough; 2 sisters: Edith Johnson of Macclenny, FL, Suzanne Greenleaf of Easton; 8 grandchildren: Christopher, Derrick, Nicholas, Sarah, Anthony, Hailey, Michaela, Jacob; and 4 great-grandchildren: Kailynn, Kaleb, Kasen and Thomas.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 PM Monday (Sept. 28) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. A Celebration of her life will be held Noon, Sunday, October 4 at Riverview Park, 1391 Lehigh Dr., Easton. Memorial contributions may be made to the family c/o the funeral home. Mary Louise Thomas, 74 of Easton, PA died Monday, September 21, 2020 at her home. Born February 5, 1946 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late John and Sara (Schaffer) Thomas. Mary loved cheesecake, bingo and was proud of her Cherokee Indian heritage.

She is survived by her children: Julio Thomas (wife Amanda) and Judy Thomas all of Easton; brother: Earl Thomas; sister: Jeannie Noone; grandson: Nicholas Thomas and godfather: Dwayne Tuddles. Services are private. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Mary L. Andrews

Mary Louise Andrews, 78, of Nazareth, PA, died Sunday, September 20, 2020, after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Paul E. “Dewey” Andrews, Sr. to whom she was married for 26 years before his passing in 1986. Born in Easton, PA, she was a daughter of the late James and Verna (Slingland) McAuliffe. She graduated from Easton High School in 1960 and worked many jobs throughout her life including: Ingersoll Rand, Martin Guitar, and M&M Mars before retiring from Organon. Mary loved shopping, crafting, playing games on her computer, and chatting with her friends and family. She had a passion for all things Elvis, some might even say…a crush. Each day began with listening to Elvis songs, which always put a smile on her face, she would often remark to her son, Jimmy, “Isn’t he handsome?”

Mary is survived by her son: Jimmy and his partner Kelley of Pittsburgh; her grandchildren: Ryan, Jacob, Jade and Zachary, all of Richmond, VA; her siblings: Joan Murphy and Joe McAuliffe of Wilson Boro, PA, Beverly Wells of Gilbert, PA; and many other loving friends and family members who will miss her dearly. In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her step-son: Paul, her son: Michael; her brothers: Jim, Bill and Pud McAuliffe, sister: Shirley Allen; and niece: Sharon Fulmer.

Graveside services are 2 PM Friday (Sept. 25) at Northampton Memorial Shrine, 3051 Green Pond Road, Easton, with a calling period from 12:30 to 1:30 PM in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Terri L. Havens

Terri L. Havens, 46, of Bangor, died Saturday, September 19, 2020 in St. Luke’s Hospice House.

Born February 20, 1974 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Charles W. and Barbara J. (Kintner) Havens.

Surviving are her children, Brett Corter and Madison Alvarnaz; three sisters, Michelle McCloughan, Monica Havens and Tracy Heller and two grandchildren, Ava and Terri.

Edith Amico

Edith Marie Amico, 82 of Palmer Twp., PA died Saturday, September 19, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill. Born in Wilson Borough, PA she had been employed by the former Dixie Cup Co. for 28 years before retiring in 2002. Edith was a “foodie” and an avid Neil Diamond fan.

She is survived by her daughter: Michelle Monte-Deemer (husband Wayne) with whom she resided; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends

Lily Jane Pochek

Lily “Jane” Pochek, 91 of Coopersburg, PA formerly of Palmer Twp., PA died Saturday, September 19, 2020 at home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Albert F. Pochek for 50 years before his passing in 2000. Born December 13, 1928 in Perth Amboy, NJ Jane was a daughter of the late Margaret (Murtha) and Arthur Coogan, Sr. and graduate of Woodbridge High School. She worked for the USAF in Stuttgart, Germany for the NCO Wives Club and was employed by the Christmas Club in Forks Twp. for 6 years. She and her husband were members of the Nazareth and Saucon Square Dance Clubs in the 1980’s.

She is survived by her son: Albert F. Pochek, Jr. (wife Catherine) with whom she resided; her daughter: Cyndy Pochek (fiancé Randy Kohler) of Easton; grandson: Kyle Pochek (wife Kayla) of Allentown; sisters: Margaret Miller of Bellville, NJ, Dyann Coogan-Hall of Palm Bay, FL; brother: Arthur Coogan of Woodbridge, NJ; nieces and nephews. A sister Blanche Jones and Jane’s beloved dog Pickles died earlier.

Naomi Dees Schleicher

Naomi Dees Schleicher, 98, of The Terrace at Phoebe Allentown, formerly of Bethlehem Township, PA, died September 16, 2020 in Lehigh Valley Hospice after a brief illness.

She and the late Harry F. Schleicher were married for 54 years.
Naomi was an elementary school teacher in Merced, CA until getting married in 1945 and moving to PA. She then taught in Bethlehem Township and the Easton Area School District before retiring in 1978. She was a 1943 graduate of Fresno State College.

Born in Raymond, CA, she was a daughter of the late Robert B. Dees and Annebelle (Vinson) Dees.
She was a member of Calvary Moravian Church, Allentown and a former member of First United Church of Christ, Easton for 50 years where she was a teacher and consistory member. After retirement she volunteered at Easton Hospital and the Allentown School District. She participated in many capacities at The Terrace at Phoebe and Calvary Moravian Church.

Naomi is survived by daughters Anne E. Kaye and husband Daniel of Easton and by Mary S. Venditta and husband C. David of Allentown, grandchildren Teresa Steigerwalt of Pittsburgh, Ethan Kaye and wife Meghan of NYC, Thea Kaye Hand and husband Kevin of Easton and great grandson Smith Hand. She was preceded in death by granddaughter Rachel Steigerwalt, three brothers, and four sisters.
Naomi’s only regret was to miss voting in the 2020 election.
