Alan, I am so sorry to learn of Lou’s passing. He was a lovely man, kind to me and to my “Nana”, Gertrude Field. As a friend, he expanded her world greatly – sharing the seashore, music and other arts, faith, good food and laughter. He loved her, and for that I loved him. His life made a difference in mine. Condolences to you and the rest of the family.

I was fortunate to work with Lou at Saucon Valley. What a charming, talented man he was and how lucky the students were to have him as an instructor. Please accept my condolences.

My fondest memory of cousin Lou was when he married Ed and I on Dec.4 1982. It meant so much to both Ed and I that he conducted the ceremony. I did not get to see him often, but whenever I did, he was kind and loving. I am grateful that he shared that with us. He was an example of what we could all be. My sincerest sympathy.

I met your father in 1981 at a French summer program at Millersville, where he and Alan were improving their language for teaching. He was interested in meeting the Polish exchange trainee who was staying with us, Marysia, and came down for polka dances at the Catholic church a few times. When martial law fell over Poland, he was at our house with a half-dozen or more Poles after the dance, and they were frantic, trying to find information from their families back home, if they were OK, and what was happening. He was a blessed guest that night, helping to calm them down, listening to them express their fear, in Polish. Lou was a blessing to our family, and the world has lost one of its saints with his passing.
