Russ was my closest cousin and a true friend. Whenever we talked it was always positive and fun. He never had a negative comment about anybody, a truly nice person. The last time we talked a short time ago, even in his sickness he was worried about my health and the loss of my brother. I will miss him dearly and his greeting will be in my head forever;” how are you, old horse, old stud, old bean! ” it was his opening hello to me. god bless you Russ, will truly miss you, we were brothers as you often said. To Jason, Ryan, and the rest of the Brandt family,

I apologize for my inability to make either the viewing or the funeral, but wanted to let you know that you are in my prayers as you go through this difficult time. I did not know your dad well, only through soccer, but every time I talked to him it was a pleasant and polite conversation. If a measure of a man can be in the family he raises he was a great man, as he has 2 wonderful sons. I hope you use this time to not only grieve, but to remember all the happy times I’m sure you had as a family. You all have my condolensence.
