Sherwood "Woody" Frankenfield

Sherwood “Woody” Frankenfield, 83 of Forks Twp., PA died Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem. Born January 13, 1939 in Easton, he was a son of the late Beulah (Kelchner) and Marvin Frankenfield, Sr. A graduate of Easton High School, he was very active with the Class of 1956 where he served as their treasurer. He was in the antique auto restoration business and worked previously for the Easton Area School District and William Berg Volvo. He and his beloved wife, Virginia (Ricker) Frankenfield were married 60 years.

Woody was an avid sports fan…Easton Red Rover forever…and he loved Penn State and the Phillies. He was a past-president of the Easton Old Timers Club and member of Citizens Hose and the Fleas. He also played and coached in the Easton Quoit League for many years. He was his grandchildren’s biggest fan and supported them in all their sporting activities. But the best thing in life for him was when he was surrounded by all his family at the same time, it was then that all was right with the world.

He is survived by his wife and devoted caregiver these last few years, Virginia; 3 daughters: Jan Warga (Jim), Jill Heilman (Jim) and Jodi Hess (Greg) all of Easton; a brother: Martin Frankenfield; sisters: Frances Thomas and Betty Short; 6 grandchildren: Chad Warga, Kevin Heilman (Kayla), Samantha Jackson (Corey), Audra Payton (Michael), Victoria Hess and Christopher Hess; and 2 great-grandchildren: Maeve Payton and Grace Heilman. He was predeceased by siblings: Harold, Marvin and Dorothy Frankenfield and Bessie Daws.

A calling period will be held from 3 to 5 PM Sunday (Jan. 8) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, PA. Services and interment in Northampton Memorial Shrine will be private.
