Thomas “Tony” Gaines, 78, of Easton, died Friday, December 29, 2017 in Lehigh Valley Hospital.
Born January 29, 1939 in Easton, he was a son of the late Thomas and Christine (Lineberger) Gaines. He and his wife, Lillian (Freeman) Gaines were married 54 years.
Tony worked for Laborer’s Union, Local 1174. Prior to that he was an Easton police officer. He served in the Marines and was a member of American Legion, Lester Pfeffer, Post 611, Easton and the Marine Corps League, Northampton County Detachment.
Surviving with his wife, Lillian, are a son, Joseph “Tim” Freeman, a sister, Joyce Martinez, a brother, Richard Lovell, 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. His son, David Freeman died earlier this year.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Noon on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the American Legion, Lester Pfeffer, Post #611, 429 S. 16th St., Easton.

I met Tony in Jr High at Wolf. He and Richard Roscheli hung out at my home many nights,I remember 1 cold No. Night we were watching T.V. thru the window on the porch . My dad had us come inside and Tony fell asleep on the sofa..o sorry for the family loss.

Uncle Tony, When I think of you I Think of my Dad. Brothers born the same day one year apart. I remember Sunday dinners and lots of laughs. Video of my wedding with your James Brown moves. Love you. Rest in peace .
