Thomas Raymond Komline, Jr., of Forks Twp, PA, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, July 15, 2018, surrounded by his wife and children. Tom was born March 7, 1944, in Modesto, CA, the oldest of 5 children born to Thomas and Elizabeth Komline.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Karen (Smith) and his children Kristin Bobowicz (Brian), Brian (Feni), and Kimberly Stout (William). He will be especially missed by his 5 grandchildren Cooper, Kellan and Noah, and Owen and Harry. He is also survived by his brothers Russ, Chris, and Keith, and his sister Marty Smith.
Tom graduated from St. Bernards School in Gladstone, NJ, in 1961, and Lehigh University in 1966, with a degree in mechanical engineering. While attending Lehigh, he was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity. He worked for Komline-Sanderson from April 1969 through 1984, where he remained a board member until 2017. He was also President of Townley Laboratories from 1984-2003.
Tom’s achievements included becoming an Eagle Scout, where he was inducted to the Order of the Arrow National Honor Society of the Boy Scouts of America. He served with the United States Army attached to the 25th Infantry with the Army Security Agency. He was a 1st Lieutenant with the 372d Radio Research Company, where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal in Vietnam for his heroic service. Tom also was a life member and former president of the Peapack-Gladstone Fire Department.
In recent years, Tom volunteered with the Sigal Museum where he created walking tours of Easton, PA. He also volunteered for Steamtown in Scranton, PA, where he was helping to restore train cars. An avid and enthusiastic player of the card game bridge, he loved traveling to various locations to compete with friends. A lifelong engineer, two of his greatest enjoyments were restoring a ‘35 Chevrolet and building a Factory 5 Cobra. He especially loved driving his Corvette to car shows.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Tom’s life at the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., in Easton, PA, on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 7 – 8:30 pm.

I knew Tom through his volunteer work at the Sigal Museum, and we stayed in touch to coordinate a stop at Third Street Alliance with his walking tours. Tom was generous with his time and with his talent, and he made an impact. My condolences to his family. He will leave a void, and he will be missed.

Karen & family, Russ, Chris, Keith & Marty,
I’m very sorry about Tom’s passing. He was a very smart and good guy- always a gentleman and fun to talk to during the workday. He also had the driest sense of humor I ever came across!
Tom would always enjoy an impromptu visit at Townley, and I’ll never forget one year we played a K-S tennis match well into the night!
My wife Marge and I send our sincere sympathies.
The best of health to all of the Komline families!
