William J. Smolow

William J. Smolow, 87, of Palmer Township, died Sunday, July 14, 2013 in St. Luke’s Hospice House.

Born:  December 14, 1925 in Easton, he was a son of the late Nathan and Minnie (Brody) Smolow.

Personal:  He and his wife, the former Roslyne Bugen were married 64 years.  He graduated from Easton High School in 1943 and Lafayette College in 1949 and served in the Navy during WWII.  Bill was the owner of Modern Wallpaper Co., Easton.

Memberships:  He was a member of Bnai Abraham Synagogue, Wilson Borough. He had been chairman of the Palmer Township Municipal Sewer Authority and was recently honored for over 41 years of service.  He was a member of Dallas-Lafayette Lodge #396, F&AM, Easton and Northampton Country Club.

Survivors:  Wife, Roslyne; two sons, Mitchell Smolow and his wife, Donna of Wilkes Barre and Mark Smolow of Easton; six grandchildren, Marcy Freeman, Rachel Kramer, Maret Landherr, Alec Smolow, Aaron Smolow and Linley Smolow and two great grandchildren, Ava and Laurel.

Services:  11:00 am Wednesday in Bnai Abraham Synagogue, Wilson Borough.  Interment in Bnai Abraham Cemetery, Forks Township.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

    In life you only meet a select few people that have an impact on your life. Bill Smolow was one of those people to me. I’ll never forget him, he gave me my first job and taught me more than just the job. To Mark and Mitchell and Mrs. Smolow my thoughts are with you.

    Bill was an excellent student at high school . We were students in the same math classes with Mr. Brotzman ..

    It was several years since i last saw your husband & father until we renewed acquaintenances at a few of the Synagogue Men’s Club’s brunches.He had not changed;he was the same friendly and unassuming guy i remembered.
