Barton G. “Bart” Smith, Jr.

Barton G. “Bart” Smith, Jr., 74, of Martins Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg. He was the husband of Patricia Elizabeth Smith. They were married 55 years. He was employed by S I Handling Systems for 30 years as an electrical technician. Born in Easton, he was the son of the late Barton G. Smith, Sr. and Ruth Mae (Derr) Smith. Bart served in the New Jersey Army National Guard for 12 years. He was a member of Nazareth Moravian Church, a member of the Easton Gun Club and life member of the Order of Fleas. He also played in the S I Handling softball league.

Surviving are two sons, Barton G. Smith, III of Phillipsburg, NJ and Stephen F. Smith of Bethlehem Township; a sister, Sharon Ann Smith-Lutzi of Florida; a brother-in-law, Stanley E. Smith, III and his wife, Joan; a sister-in-law, Sandra Karr and her husband, Mike of Arizona; a brother-in-law, Daniel Bean; a grandson, Robert Brotzman-Smith and his wife, Brittany; and two great grandsons, William and Chase.

A graveside service will be held at Noon on Thursday, June 11, 2026 in Hays Cemetery, Easton. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, www.kidney.org. Offer online condolences at www.AshtonFuneralHome.com.

    Oh my Love, my heart is so broken since you went home to be with God. I miss you every second of the day, I am not sure how I will get through this. But I do know you are at peace and not suffering anymore. It was a hard road to travel having Kidney Disease, but when you add all the other health issues, it becomes even hardier to overcome. My love, I will miss you everyday most important my love will go on forever. Rest in peace now, here’s looking at you kid! Your loving wife forever.

    Bart was a neighbor for years, he and Pat and the boys were great friends. You will be missed. Pat my heart goes out to you.

    Well, my Love, The boys and I had your service yesterday at Noon. It was truly beautiful and I know you were looking down from heaven and smiling. Well actually it rained really hard last night, so I know God embraced you as you were going through those Golden Gates. Your at peace now and I feel at peace, knowing you are your true self now.
