Harold Edgar Rogers, 97, passed away peacefully in the early morning of July 11th, 2026. Born in 1929 in Forks Township to the late Harold and Myrtle Wagner Rogers. He had an early life filled with playing, fishing, trapping, and hunting down by the river. He graduated from Easton High School, and went on to become a foundry pattern maker and then foreman at Ingersoll Rand. It was his first and only job.
Harold respected and loved nature his entire life. Walks through the woods, up to the reservoir, and just around the neighborhood were an integral part of life. He was always identifying points of interest on these treks, imparting knowledge the entire time including tree identification, discovering animal tracks, and making bird calls. The fruits of his black walnut trees were good eatin’, and they found their way into many a black walnut chocolate chip cookie.
He was a dedicated scout leader for Troop 8 in Easton, with his two favorite scouts Jay and Robin. Many trips were made to Camp Weygadt for the Klondike Derby and summer camp. He also served as a baseball coach for the Forks Sparks. He loved to travel with Jeanne and other camping buddies, visiting Lake Charleston in Canada, Shady Shores Campground in Fairhaven, NY, and Beltzville State Park. “Woodcutter” loved talking on his CB set during their travels. Once they arrived at their destination, Harold could be found fishing for most of the trip.
Harold had many hobbies: tinkering with cars, lawnmowers, chainsaws, and anything broken – he could truly fix it all. He loved fishing and even ran a bait shop for a time out of his basement. He was an expert woodworker, crafting many impressive, finished products: a spinning wheel, steam engines, trucks, a rocking horse, cribs, cabinets, and decorative vases.
He is survived by his son, Jay Rogers, as well as two granddaughters, Alison (Courtney) and Tiffany (Andrew), a great granddaughter, Amelia, and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jeanne Rogers (nee Dennis), his son, Robin Rogers, his 2 brothers Donald and Mortimer, 3 sisters (Helen Fritzo, Virginia Otto, and Mildred Dickey), his daughter in law (Kimberly), and numerous cherished family pets (SED, Shorty, Jug, Trish, Irish, Kyra, Boots, Mandy, and Haricat to name a few).
A celebration of life will be organized at a later date to honor Harold. In lieu of flowers, our family asks for a donation to be made to one of Harold’s favorite charities – St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, BrightFocus (Macular Degeneration Research), American Heart Association, and The Center for Animal Health and Welfare, Easton, PA.
