Nelson I. Andrews, Jr. of Easton, PA passed away Saturday, October 24, 2026 at Easton Hospital. He was born January 13, 1959 in Wilson Borough to Nelson I. Sr. and Ruth L. Conover Andrews. He graduated from Easton Area High School in 1977. In his younger years, he was the store clerk at the former American Army and Navy Store in downtown Easton.
Nelson enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brother Randy and friends. He loved chatting on the phone with family and friends about the latest local and national news and wildlife sightings. Nelson was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers; and yes, he had a yellow and black “Terrible Towel.” He also enjoyed the music of Johnny Cash and watching outdoor shows on TV.
He enjoyed playing card games with his family and getting together each Christmas season for a fun evening of games and dinner with extended family. Each Christmas he would buy everyone a lottery ticket which he would hand out after dinner and wait to hear someone shout, “I won!”
Nelson previously served on the Board of Directors at The Stockertown Rod & Gun Club. He had a wealth of knowledge about hunting and fishing and would gladly join in any conversations about those subjects.
Nelson leaves behind his loving family whose loss is beyond words, his sisters, Peggy Shafer, Carole Pilolli (Michael), and Kimberly Mahony (Kevin); and his hunting & fishing buddy and brother, Randy Andrews. He is also survived by nieces Jeneane, Michelle, Mandy, Priscilla and Cassidy; nephews Arion, Taylor, Mason, and Zachary. Grandnieces Dayna, Samantha, Mikaela, Claudia, Maia, Kaylee, and Natalie. Nelson is predeceased by his parents, a sister Ruth Medina, a brother Kevin Andrews, a grandnephew Michael Leh, and his beloved dog, Johnny.
Although our brother and uncle has left us until we meet again, we know that he is at peace, and that our parents and siblings were there waiting for him and his faithful companion was there to greet him with a wagging tail.
In 1986, Nelson received a life-saving kidney transplant. Doctors continued to be amazed at the longevity of the donated kidney. We all continued to be grateful for the donor family who made his 67 years on this earth possible and the care he received from the medical staff that supported him throughout these years. Donations in his memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org.
A calling period will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM Friday (Oct. 30, 2026) with a service to follow in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, PA. Interment will be in the Easton Cemetery. Offer online condolences at www.AshtonFuneralHome.com.
