Wendy A. Porter

October 27, 2019

Wendy A. Porter, 68, of Center Valley, died Sunday, October 27, 2019 in her home. Born May 26, 1951 in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Richard A. and Marie A. (Hecht) Chattin. She and her husband, J. Craig Porter were married 30 years.
Wendy worked for PPL for almost 40 years and retired in 2012. She attended Bangor Area High School, graduated from Northwestern Lehigh High School in 1969 and received her bachelor’s degree from Muhlenberg College. She was a member of the Ptarmigan Ski Club and the Blue Ridge Ski Club. She was also a member of the Teton Club, Jackson Hole, Wyoming and was a boarder at Horseman’s Hollow Equestrian Center. She enjoyed traveling, skiing, wind surfing, motorcycling, birdwatching, gardening and shooting sports.

Surviving with her husband, Craig, are her stepdaughter, Jessica Weaver; her siblings, Michael Chattin, Holly Bisbee, Daniel Chattin, Sheree Stuart and Scott Chattin; and her beloved horse, Baltic.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. A visitation will be held from 6 to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 and from 9 to 10:00 am on Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Diane L. Smestad

Diane L. Smestad, (nee Mount), 58, of Forks Township, died at home on Friday, October 25, 2019. Born June 25, 1961 in Neptune, NJ, she was a daughter of Robert W. and Gloria (Bille) Mount of Monroe Township, NJ. Her husband, Erik Smestad died in 2017.

Diane was a teacher for The Cuddle Zone Learning Center, Allentown. Prior to that she worked at ShopRite in Freehold, NJ and Bethlehem. Diane graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from ESU. She earned her Master’s in Early Childhood Education during her battle with cancer in 2017. She was a member of Arndt’s Lutheran Church.

Surviving with her parents, Robert and Gloria, are her children, Kristian E. Smestad and his wife, Hannah of North Carolina, and John E. Smestad of Forks Township; her siblings, Rosanne Mount; Linda Corby and her husband, Don; Laura Mount; her twin brother, Robert Mount, Jr. and his wife, Rose; Kenneth Mount and his wife, Lori; and Donald Mount; her mother and father-in-law, Anna and Hans Smestad; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 2, 2019 with a Celebration of Life to follow at 3:00 pm at Arndt’s Lutheran Church, 1851 Arndt Rd., Easton. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Deborah A. Crean

Deborah A. Crean, 67 formerly of Rest Rockhill Twp., PA died Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Gracedale in Nazareth, PA. Born February 25, 1952 she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Anna (Jacobs) Crean. She resided in Sellersville for many years and is survived by a son Paul Chamberlain. A sister and two brothers died earlier. Services will be private with interment in the Jarrettown United Methodist Cemetery, Dresher, PA. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements. Lourdes D. Dizon

Lourdes Dizon

Lourdes D. Dizon, 62 of Easton, PA died Monday, October 21, 2019 at Easton Hospital. Born December 10, 1956 in the Phillippines she was a daughter of the late Francisco and Benita (Arcangel) Dagulo. She was a Registered Nurse at Somerset Medical Center for many years before her illness. A member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, Easton, she was active in the Filipino Charismatic Community and the Franciscan Group.  She is survived by her husband of 25 years Angelito Dizon; her children: Lorelie and Franzangelo; brother: Anacleto Dagulo in the Phillippines; sisters: Violeta Guieb and Dolores Dfabro in Illinois, Lilia Dagulo in Canada; nieces, nephews and in-laws.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Saturday (Oct. 26) at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Avenue, Easton, PA with visitation 5 to 9 PM Friday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Joyce L. Kutzler

Joyce L. Kutzler, 82, of Palmer Township, died Thursday, October 17, 2019 in Bethlehem Manor.
Born March 29, 1937 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Steve and Hannah (Fehnel) Bakros. She and her husband, Robert V. Kutzler, Sr. were married 63 years.
Joyce was a secretary at Northampton Community College until retiring. Prior to that she was a secretary at Ingersoll-Rand, Phillipsburg. She was a member of Green Pond United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She was also an avid bowler and bingo player.
Surviving with her husband, Robert, are a son, Robert V. Kutzler, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Palmer Township, a brother, two sisters, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 24, 2019 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Thursday in the funeral home.

Eric Hoang Le, 39, of Easton, died Saturday, October 12, 2019 in Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Born July 28, 1980 in Easton, he was a son of Nam Hoang Le and Dawn Marie (Easterday) Garr. He worked at Fluortek, Inc., Easton.

Joyce H. Brinker Hartz

Joyce H. Brinker Hartz, 91 of Bethlehem, PA died Saturday, October 12, 2019 at ManorCare of Bethlehem. Born May 10, 1928 in Allentown, PA she was a daughter of the late Herman and Isabelle (Hardner) Weil. She was a 1946 graduate of Allentown High School, a graduate of Allentown Business College and had been the Director of the Spring Garden Children’s Center. Joyce was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Easton and active with the choir and Sunday school. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and a volunteer for the Allentown Art Museum and State Theatre.

She is survived by her 4 children: Charles Brinker, II (wife Barbara) of Bethlehem, Janis Brinker (spouse Cindy) of Yarmouth Port, MA, Patrice Smith (husband Richard) of Newmanstown, PA, Bret Brinker (wife Cindy) of Bethlehem; her sister: Marlene Edinger in Wisconsin; 6 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husbands: Dr. Charles Brinker and David Hartz.

Veronica Rose Scannell, 100 of Easton, PA died Sunday, September 29, 2019 at ManorCare, Palmer. Born June 25, 1919 in New York City, NY she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Rose (Ranee) Hannigan. Her husband John J. Scannell died in 1999. Veronica was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Easton, the Catholic Daughters of America, Region 358 and a past president of the Council of Catholic Women at St. Bernard’s. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Easton Hospital and ProJeCt of Easton

She is survived by her children: William A. Scannell (wife Marguerite) of Palmer Twp., PA, John R. Scannell (wife Wendy Kelling) of Sammamish, WA, Bernadette A. Kozlowski of Pinellas Park, FL, Michael D. Scannell (wife Shelley) of Phoenix, AZ; 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Friday (Oct. 4) at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 132 S. 5th St., Easton with visitation 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment is in Gethsemane Cemetery. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.
