Charles G. Odenwelder, Sr.

Charles G. Odenwelder, Sr., 87, of Saylorsburg, PA formerly of Pen Argyl and Easton, PA went home to the Lord and his beloved wife, Marlene, to celebrate their 63rd Wedding Anniversary.  Born December 3, 1928 in Easton he was a son of the late Grover Cleveland and Beulah (Andrews) Odenwelder.

He was a 1946 graduate of Easton High School where he played trumpet in the marching band. He was self-employed for nearly 50 years as the owner of Chas. G. Odenwelder & Sons Cabinet Shop and also MARCO Crafts with his wife. He was active at Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church, Brodheadsville, PA and served on the Board of Directors of the Easton YMCA, Easton Optimist and the Pocono Boys Singers.

He is survived by four children: Charles, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Pen Argyl, PA, Janet Altemus and her husband Kim of Saylorsburg, Thomas and his wife Ruth of Stroudsburg, PA, Paul and his wife Tracy of Indianapolis, IN; 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. His wife: Marlene (Lichtenwalner), brother: Donald and sister: Sarah Jane Wirth all died earlier.

Services are 11 AM Saturday, June 4 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with visitation from 10 to 11 AM. Casual dress is suggested. Interment in Wind Gap Cemetery.

Charles E. Supers

Charles E. Supers, 84 of Saylorsburg, PA died Saturday, May 28, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus. Born November 27, 1931 in N. Bangor, PA he was a son of the late Eugene and Ada (Steinmetz) Supers.  He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and was employed by Ingersoll-Rand for 39 years before retiring in 1994. He had been a member and deacon of the former Olivet Presbyterian Church, Easton.  He was also a life member of the Forks Twp. Volunteer Fire Co.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Lois (Cooper); 3 children: Charles, Jr. and his wife Deb of Earl Twp., PA; Craig and his wife Kim of Bushkill Twp., PA; Lynne her husband Kurt Zipprodt of Bethlehem, PA; 2 sisters: Evelyn DiFrancesco and Charlotte Walley; 5 Grandchildren: Cassi, Chris, Cory, Jess and Katarina; a Great-Grandson: Demetri; and Godchildren: Sharon, Karen, Jim and John. He was predeceased by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Services are 10:30 AM Thursday (June 2) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with visitation 9:30 to 10:30 AM.  Interment in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Arthur F. “Skip” Inderelst

Arthur F. “Skip” Inderelst, 90 of Palmer Twp., PA died Monday, May 23, 2016 at ManorCare, Palmer Twp.  Born April 27, 1926 in Easton, PA he was a son of the late John and Helen (Brotzman) Inderelst. His wife, the former Jean Weingartner died in 1997.

He had been employed by the New Staten Island Cleaners, George Lallas Banana Co., Ross Distributors, and Keystone Snacks before retiring. He was also a bus driver for Palmer Elementary School.

He is survived by a son: John N. Inderelst of Paoli, PA; a daughter: Lorraine Ahart and her husband Jack of San Tan Valley, AZ; 2 sisters: Joan Reynolds of Huntington Beach, CA, Lois Stimeare of Aston, PA; 4 grandchildren and a great granddaughter.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 31 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with a calling period 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.  Interment is in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Xanthe Zavitsanos

Xanthe Zavitsanos of Wilson Borough, PA passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 with her loving family by her side.  Born in Hrisou-Euretanias, Greece she was the daughter of the late Athena and Seraphim Karanikas.

She was an active, longtime member of the Greek Orthodox Church of Annunciation in Wilson Borough since coming to this country in 1951. She served as President of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society and helped with Church Festivals and obtaining donations for people with cancer and other illnesses.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years: Peter S. Zavitsanos; two daughters: Katherine Vayda of Williams Twp., PA, Athena Gilio and her husband Michael of Bath, PA; a brother: Paul Karanikas of Wilson Borough; two sisters: Vaso Patronis of Wilson Borough, Kathy Pappas in Greece; three grandchildren: Melissa Tripp, Christopher and David Gilio; and two great-grandchildren: Matthew and Christopher Tripp. She was predeceased by three brothers: Ioannis, Theodoros and Taxiarnis.

Services are 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 25, in the Church, 20th and Hay Terrace, Wilson Borough; with visitation from 6  PM Tuesday in the church until time of Trisagion service at 7:30 PM also in the church.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.  Interment is in Gethsemane Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, 319 S. 20th St., Easton, PA 18042, to aid those with cancer and diabetic illnesses.

Karin A. Olsen

Karin A. Olsen, 82, of Bethlehem, died Thursday, May 19, 2016 in ManorCare, Old Orchard.

Born December 17, 1933 in Jersey City, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Ingvar and Thora (Jacobsen) Strommen.

Her husband, Norman H. Olsen died in 1978.  She was a customer service representative for Wachovia Bank for many years.

Surviving are her son, Eric Olsen, her daughters, Inger Olsen, Tracey Olsen, Randi Olsen Pavlick and Barbara Ricker, a sister, Inger Edgar, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Patricia M. Bernard, 59 of Wilson Borough, PA died Monday, May 16, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital Allentown Campus. She had been employed by XPO Logistics.

She is survived by her son: Erick and a granddaughter: Juliana. Her husband Julius died earlier.

Service will be held 4 PM Monday (May 23)  in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment is in N. Arlington, NJ.

Ioannis (John) Nikolaou Hatzis

Ioannis (John) Nikolaou Hatzis, 74, passed away peacefully with his family by his side May 13th, 2016.

He was born on October 6th, 1941, to Nikolaos and Georgia (Flessa) Hatzis, in Nea Fegalia (Zourtza), Greece, a small village in the Peloponnese that always had his heart. The third of five brothers, he is survived by his brother, Kostas, and preceded into death by Aristides (Art), Panayiotis and Athanasios (Tommy).

He is survived by his daughter, Georgia Hatzis Roberts and son-in-law, Jonno Roberts; daughter, Joanna Hatzis; and son, Nikolaos Hatzis, and daughter-in-law, Mia Hatzis. He is also survived by his three spirited grandchildren, Leonidas and Persephone Roberts, and Lola Hatzis.

Services will take place on Tuesday, May 17th, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 319 S. 20th Street, Easton, PA. Viewing is from 10am-11am. Funeral services will follow at 11am.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Jacqueline Dudzick Derk

Jacqueline Loree Dudzick Derk, 46 of Easton, PA died Sunday, May 8, 2016 at the New Eastwood Care Center.  Born February 23, 1970 in Easton, PA she was a daughter of Lor’ee of Easton and the late John J. Dudzick. Jacky had been employed by the Regis Corporation for 25 years as manager of the 25th Street Holiday Hair Salon.

She is survived by her mother, Lor’ee; her children: Cameron and Ashley both at home; aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by her father, John and her brother, Michael both in 2007. The family is grateful to all those who loved and supported her including Brenda and Al Peters.

A Memorial Service will be held 3 PM Wednesday (May 11) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, with a calling period from 7 to 9 PM Tuesday in the funeral home.
