Dolores N. Tukeva

Dolores N. Tukeva, 97, formerly of Palmer Twp., PA died Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth, PA. Born April 19, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY she was a daughter of the late F. Wesley and Evelyn (Small) Northridge. Dolores grew up in New York and Connecticut, although she lived for a time in Punta San Juan, Cuba.  Dolores’ adolescence was spent in New York City, where she attended St. Patrick’s Cathedral High School, and then graduated from St. Irmgardis Lyceum in Cologne, Germany, where she became fluent in German.

In 1939, Dolores married Ed Tukeva, whom she had met while working as a Comptometer (the forerunner to the adding machine and calculator) operator at the American News Company in NYC.Dolores and Ed moved to Easton in 1960, where they raised their five children. Dolores was the owner of the Nazareth News Agency for 17 years before retiring in 1999. She was also the President of Easton News, from 1988 to the present.

Dolores is remembered as the devoted matriarch of an extended family of siblings, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and she took great joy in spending time with them.  Those who knew her as a friend found a warm, smart, and beautiful spirit who always put others first. Dolores also loved animals, and over the years raised many dogs, cats, and other creatures that her children brought home. Through her travels, she developed a love of language and reading, which was evidenced through her talents at Scrabble and crossword puzzles.

Dolores was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church; the URW Club, the Red Hat Society and she volunteered at the Children’s Home of Easton, and Easton Hospital.  She was a proud and active resident of the Moravian Hall Square Community.

She is survived by her children: Karen  Giles of Dunwoody, GA, Vicki Tukeva of San Pablo, CA, Maria  Tukeva of Washington, DC, Edward Tukeva, Jr. and his wife Rosemary of Bethlehem Twp., PA, Jan Tukeva and her partner Gary Emrick of Bushnell, FL; 6 grandchildren: Jennifer  Challenger, Laura  and Jeffrey  Abbott, Elisa, Simone and Natasha Tukeva; 6 great-grandchildren: Jake  and Ava Challenger, Spencer and Ryan  Katzman, Emerson  and Remi Tukeva; a sister: Patricia Fairhurst; sister-in-law: Helen  Ritter; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Tukeva, her daughter: Judith Tukeva and sister: Jeanne Robson.

Mass will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, November 12, 2016 at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, Palmer Twp. with a calling period from 10 to 10:30 AM in the church. Interment Northampton Memorial Shrine. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Harold J. Savercool, Jr.

Harold J. Savercool, Jr., 64, of Belvidere, NJ, formerly of Easton, died Monday, October 24, 2016 in his home surrounded by his family.

Born July 22, 1952 in Easton, he was a son of the late Harold and Lois (Beers) Savercool, Sr.

He worked for Nazareth Metal, served in the Marines during the Vietnam War and was a member of First Baptist Church of Belvidere.

Surviving are his wife, Marie (Bobo) Savercool; sons, Harold “Jay” Savercool, III and Thomas Savercool; step-children, Amber, Anthony, Marcus and Brian; brothers, Barry, Bruce and Terry Savercool; and 9 grandchildren.  His brother, George Savercool died earlier.

Stanley A. Lalonde

Stanley A. Lalonde, 92, formerly of Bethlehem Township, died Sunday, October 23, 2016 in Easton Hospital.

Born April 3, 1924 in Ogdensburg, NY, he was a son of the late Arthur and Alvena (Rivers) Lalonde.  His wife, Elsie (Eck) Lalonde died in 2003.

Stanley owned and operated Stan’s Electronics, Palmer Township and retired in 1991.  He graduated from Easton High School in 1942 and served in the Navy during the Korean War.  He enjoyed golfing, kayaking and biking.

Surviving are a daughter, Gwen M. Happel and her husband, Thomas, of Lehigh Township; a son, Skip A. Lalonde and his wife, Donna, of Nazareth; a brother, Eugene Lalonde of Phillipsburg; a sister, Barbara Barker of Nazareth; 3 granddaughters and 2 great granddaughters.  His brother, Vincent Lalonde died earlier.

Services will be held 10:30 AM, Wednesday, October 26, 2016 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  A visitation will be held 9:30 AM until service time, Wednesday in the funeral home.  Entombment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.  Offer online condolences at www.AshtonFuneralHome.com.

Charles Lako

Charles Lako, 80, of Palmer Township, died Sunday, October 23, 2016 in Easton Hospital.

He was born October 12, 1936 in Gyor, Hungary.  His wife, Johanna (Klennert) Lako died in 2001.

Charles was a property manager for Rose Associates, New York City for 38 years.

He is survived by his son, Charles Lako, Jr. of The Bronx, NY and a brother, William Lako, Sr.

Victoria Anna Linsman

Victoria Anna Linsman, 94 of Easton, PA died Saturday, October 22, 2016 at ManorCare, Easton. Born April 30, 1922 in Phillipsburg, NJ she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Hattie (Lichtenwalner) Seyfried. She had been employed by Easton Hospital and The Easton Home for many years before retiring and had been a member of the former Calvary United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter: Charlene Gibson of Sykesville, MD; 2 grandchildren: Charles Gibson, Courtney Gibson Brown and 3 great-grandchildren: Logan, Trey, and Sunny.

Ida Mae King

Ida Mae King, 76 of Easton, PA died Monday, October 17, 2016 at home. Born August 21, 1940 in Easton she was a daughter of the late William and Cora VanHorn. She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd M. King and had been employed by Easton Nursing Center.

She is survived by 4 children: James VanHorn and his 3 children: Jason VanHorn (children: Evan, Eligh, Ta Kai, Brydan, Ethan, Alexia), Tanya VanHorn (daughter: Kayla), and James VanHorn (son: Isaiah); May “Baby May” Castillo and her 3 children: Lovetesha Clark (wife: Holly, children: Hailie, Jacob, Ralph, Aiden), Emery Clark, III (wife: Lynette, son: Isaiah), and Miguel Ortiz; Ann Price and her 3 children: Laura Price (children: Izabella, Marcuz, Landon, London), Alicia Zavala (son: Xavior), Heidi Castillo (children: Totiyana, Khloe); and Marvin King (fiancé: Phyllis); 4 brothers: Billy, Lenny, Lester and Henry VanHorn; and 2 sisters: Jean VanHorn, June Drexler. Siblings: Mary Lockwhich, Lawrence, Chester, Terry and Ronald VanHorn all died earlier.

Visitation is 9:30 AM to 11 AM Thursday (October 20) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton followed by a service at the graveside in Easton Heights Cemetery, N. 10th St., Easton.

William R. Brooker

William R. Brooker, 79, of Easton, died Thursday in The Gardens at Easton.

Born July 4, 1937 in Huntington, NY, he was the son of the late William and Lucy (Kostrewski) Brooker.

He served in the Army and was a commercial construction inspector in New York for Soil Mechanics.

Surviving are his wife, Pauline (Thoms) Brooker, his daughter, Laura Cozza and his granddaughter, Raileena.

Bettyjane Haas

Bettyjane Haas, 75 of Easton, PA died Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill. Born June 3, 1941 in Easton she was a daughter of the late Harold and Dolores (Mason) Cosper. Her husband Clayton C. Haas, Jr. died in 1996.

She is survived by five children: “Mac” McEntire (wife Mary), Janice Killey (husband Robby) of Wilson Borough, Floyd McEntire (wife Carleen) of Phillipsburg, NJ, Kathy Beers (husband Paul) of Tatamy, PA, Linda DeBias of Easton; brothers: Butch Cosper in TN, Floyd Cosper of Easton; sister: Janice Baker of Palmer Twp.; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband: Clayton; daughter: Sandra Donato and sister: Janet Krebbs.

Services are 2:00 PM Monday (Oct. 17) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with a calling period from 1 to 2 PM.  Interment is in Northampton Memorial Shrine.
