Gertrude C. “Trudy” Smith

Gertrude C. “Trudy” Smith, 96, of Easton, died Monday, December 14, 2015 in ManorCare, Palmer Township.

Born August 9, 1919 in Nazareth, she was a daughter of the late James and Sarah (Southam) Coy.

Trudy was well known for her handmade Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls.

Surviving are two daughters, Ann Brodhead and her husband, David of Easton and Susan Jane Shakley and her husband, Larry of Ohio; a brother, Ernie Coy of Catasauqua; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  Her son Richard D. Smith, her infant son, Dwight Blaine Smith, and her sisters, Helen and Jennie all died earlier.

Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 17, 2015 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  A visitation will be held from 6 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday in the funeral home.  Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Nazareth.

Richard H. MacDonald

Richard H. MacDonald, 84, formerly of Easton, died Wednesday, December 9, 2015 in Abington Manor.

Born May 4, 1931 in Easton, he was a son of the late Maurice F. and Irene F. (Moldenhauer) MacDonald.

He and his wife, the former Judith Goodear were married 25 years.

Richard worked at Mack Printing, Wilson Borough and various A&P stores for 42 years until retiring.

He was a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, Belfast.  He graduated from Easton High School in 1949.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Judith are 7 children, 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  His sister died earlier.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 12, 2015 in St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, Belfast.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Peggy Ann Lee

Peggy Ann Lee, 71, of Wilson Borough, died Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in New Eastwood Rehabilitation Center.

Born October 19, 1944 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Dorothy (Lohmeyer) Rissmiller.

She was a sewing machine operator at Fredwell Co., Easton.

She was a graduate of Wilson High School and was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Surviving are her husband, William C. Lee, Sr.; sons, William Lee, Jr. and Frederick Raymond Lee; and brothers, Raymond Rissmiller and Richard Rissmiller.

Services will be private.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Richard Allen Foster

Richard Allen Foster, 82, formerly of West Easton, died Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in Gracedale.

Born October 7, 1933 in West Easton, he was a son of the late Chester A. and Anna (DeHart) Foster.

He was treasurer and controller at U.S. Bronze Powders, Flemington, NJ for 30 years and retired in 1998.  He was the zoning chairman for West Easton and was appointed borough manager in 1998.  He graduated from Wilson High School in 1952 and served in the U S Air Force during the Korean War.  He received a BS in accounting from Benjamin Franklin University and attended Muhlenberg College.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson Borough where he was secretary and treasurer and served on church council.  He was a member of the Black Diamond Society of Model Engineers and would show his model railroad display at his house to hundreds of people each year.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.  His brothers, George, John and Chester Foster and his sister, Doris Stroble died earlier.

Services will be private.  Interment will be in First Presbyterian Cemetery, Asbury, NJ.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Richard R. Young

Richard R. Young, 63, of Northampton, died Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in his home.

Born February 9, 1952 in Woodbridge, NJ, he was a son of the late August O. and Margaret L. (Kutcher) Young.

Richard worked at LifePath, Bethlehem for many years.

His sister, Nancy Coursen died earlier.

Frederick C. Stineman

November 30, 2015

Frederick C. Stineman, 81, of Bethlehem, PA, died November 30, 2015 in ManorCare, Old Orchard, Palmer Township.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late Ellis E. and Margaret S. Stineman.

He was a chef in the Philadelphia area.

Surviving are his sisters, Jean and Rowena and nieces, nephews and cousins. His sister, Margaret and his brothers, John and Alan died earlier.

Rev. Alan R. Tulp

November 26, 2015

Rev. Alan R. Tulp, 83, of Easton, died Thursday, November 26, 2015 in Easton Hospital.

Born March 23, 1932 in Newark, NJ, he was a son of the late Harry C. and Helen G. (Meyers) Tulp, Sr.

He served in the US Army during the Korean War.  He earned a BA from Fairleigh Dickinson University, a Master of Religious Education and a Master of Divinity from Drew University and a Doctor of Ministry from University of Science, Arts and Technology.  He received The President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2014.

Surviving are a daughter, Dona Bartram of Pliny, WV; a son, Jacob Tulp of Easton; 4 brothers, Harry Tulp, Jr., Jack Tulp, Albert Tulp and Dr. Orien Tulp; 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 5, 2015 in the Maple Street Cemetery, Adams, Massachusetts.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Johnnie C. Sandiford

Johnnie C. Sandiford, 66, of Easton, died Saturday, November 21, 2015 in ManorCare, Old Orchard.

Born December 15, 1948 in Colon, Panama, he was a son of Maria Page of Texas and the late Stanley Sandiford.

He worked in food service at Lafayette College for over 30 years.

Surviving with his mother, Maria, are 4 sons, Jonathan, Jarrett, Enrique and Isaiah Sandiford of Easton; 7 siblings, Sonia, Delores, Hortencia, Alicia, Mario, Ricardo and Veronica; and 6 grandchildren.  His brother, Erlando died earlier.
