Barry W. Reinhart

Barry W. Reinhart, 75 of Palmer Twp., PA died Thursday, December 17, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus. Born September 18, 1940 in Easton, PA he was the son of the late Wayne S. and Margaret “Midge” (Freeman) Reinhart. He and his wife, the former Nancy Beisel were married 51 years.

A graduate of Easton High School, he worked for the Prudential Insurance Co. for more than 30 years before retiring in 1997. He was a Marine Corps veteran and member of the Marine Corps League, Northampton County Detachment #298 and Brown & Lynch Post # 9, American Legion. He was a bugler in the Lehigh Valley area known for playing echo taps.

He is survived by his wife: Nancy; 3 daughters: Suzanne Veltri and her husband Carlo of Pittsburgh; Joanna Williams and her husband Gary of  Palmer Twp; Alena Reinhart of Palmer Twp.; and 4 granddaughters: Aria Beyah, Ella Williams, Avery Williams and Amara Beyah.

Services are 11 AM Monday, December 21 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with visitation 6 to 7:30 PM Sunday in the funeral home. Interment is in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Minh T. Nguyen

Minh T. Nguyen, 71, of Forks Township, died Thursday, December 17, 2015 in St. Luke’s Warren Hospital.

Born July 23, 1944 in Vietnam, she was a daughter of the late Giu and Gam Nguyen.

Her husband, Joseph Hao Dang died in 2004.  Minh was a loving mom who, for the past forty five years, raised five children, two grandchildren and helped take care of her great grandchild.

Surviving are her children and step-children, Tony Dang and his wife, Thao; David Dang and his wife, Dana; Phuong Dang; Mai Zekis and her husband, Arthur; Cindy Dang; Jina Nguyen and her husband, Tom; Cua Dang; Tien Dang; her siblings, Tuan; Luong, My, Tuyet and Trang; her grandchildren, Katelee, Katelin, Lana, Daniel, Julie, Kim, Jonathan, Elijah, Stephanie, Destiny and Tiffany; and a great grandson, Elijah Jr.  Her daughter, Dao Dang died earlier.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 9:00 pm on Tuesday in the funeral home.  Interment will be in St. Joseph’s New Cemetery, Easton.  Offer online condolences at www.AshtonFuneralHome.com.

Ernest C. Messinger

Ernest C. Messinger, 74, formerly of Bath, died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the home of his daughter, Christy Suddreth of Hanover, PA.

Born February 5, 1941 in Easton, he was a son of the late Frank and Hilda (Sterner) Messinger.

He worked at Dixie Cup, Wilson Borough for 40 years and served in the U S Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  He was a member of First Moravian Church, Easton and a life member of American Legion, Post 415 and VFW, Post 4366, Nazareth.

Surviving are a daughter, Christy Suddreth and her husband, David of Hanover; a son Ernie Messinger of Ft. Pierce, FL; a sister, Lorraine Fazekas of Hazleton; and 2 granddaughters, Kelly Winstead and Shannon Messinger.

Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 19, 2015 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  A visitation will be held from 9:00 am until service time on Saturday in the funeral home.  Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Rose Lepovsky

Rose Lepovsky, 95, of Forks Township, formerly of West Orange, NJ and Plainfield, NJ, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, December 14, 2015.

Born December 19, 1919 in Johnstown, PA, she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine (Beneviat) Zappernick.

Her husband, Michael Lepovsky died in 1984.

Rose was a member of St. Rocco’s Roman Catholic Church, Martins Creek and a former member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Plainfield, NJ.  She was also a member of the Forks Township Senior Coffee Hour and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Senior Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Fuentes and her husband, Virgil with whom she resided and Gloria Zin and her husband, Michael of Bethany Beach, Delaware; five grandchildren, Kaela, Ariel, Nicholas, Michael and Kacie; a great granddaughter, Kassandra; and many nieces and nephews including Diane Valentine.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains, NJ.  A visitation will be held from 7 – 8:30 pm with a prayer service at 8:00 pm on Thursday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.

Gertrude C. “Trudy” Smith

Gertrude C. “Trudy” Smith, 96, of Easton, died Monday, December 14, 2015 in ManorCare, Palmer Township.

Born August 9, 1919 in Nazareth, she was a daughter of the late James and Sarah (Southam) Coy.

Trudy was well known for her handmade Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls.

Surviving are two daughters, Ann Brodhead and her husband, David of Easton and Susan Jane Shakley and her husband, Larry of Ohio; a brother, Ernie Coy of Catasauqua; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  Her son Richard D. Smith, her infant son, Dwight Blaine Smith, and her sisters, Helen and Jennie all died earlier.

Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 17, 2015 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  A visitation will be held from 6 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday in the funeral home.  Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Nazareth.

Richard H. MacDonald

Richard H. MacDonald, 84, formerly of Easton, died Wednesday, December 9, 2015 in Abington Manor.

Born May 4, 1931 in Easton, he was a son of the late Maurice F. and Irene F. (Moldenhauer) MacDonald.

He and his wife, the former Judith Goodear were married 25 years.

Richard worked at Mack Printing, Wilson Borough and various A&P stores for 42 years until retiring.

He was a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, Belfast.  He graduated from Easton High School in 1949.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Judith are 7 children, 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  His sister died earlier.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 12, 2015 in St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, Belfast.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Peggy Ann Lee

Peggy Ann Lee, 71, of Wilson Borough, died Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in New Eastwood Rehabilitation Center.

Born October 19, 1944 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Dorothy (Lohmeyer) Rissmiller.

She was a sewing machine operator at Fredwell Co., Easton.

She was a graduate of Wilson High School and was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Surviving are her husband, William C. Lee, Sr.; sons, William Lee, Jr. and Frederick Raymond Lee; and brothers, Raymond Rissmiller and Richard Rissmiller.

Services will be private.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Richard Allen Foster

Richard Allen Foster, 82, formerly of West Easton, died Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in Gracedale.

Born October 7, 1933 in West Easton, he was a son of the late Chester A. and Anna (DeHart) Foster.

He was treasurer and controller at U.S. Bronze Powders, Flemington, NJ for 30 years and retired in 1998.  He was the zoning chairman for West Easton and was appointed borough manager in 1998.  He graduated from Wilson High School in 1952 and served in the U S Air Force during the Korean War.  He received a BS in accounting from Benjamin Franklin University and attended Muhlenberg College.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson Borough where he was secretary and treasurer and served on church council.  He was a member of the Black Diamond Society of Model Engineers and would show his model railroad display at his house to hundreds of people each year.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.  His brothers, George, John and Chester Foster and his sister, Doris Stroble died earlier.

Services will be private.  Interment will be in First Presbyterian Cemetery, Asbury, NJ.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.
