Yolanda V. Deemer, 89, of Easton, died Saturday, September 7, 2013 in ManorCare, Palmer Township.

Born:  August 20, 1924 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Philip and Nicolletta Virgilio.

Personal:  She and her husband, Erwin C. Deemer were married 65 years.  Yolanda worked at Easton Hospital until retiring.  Prior to that she worked for Trans-O-Gram, Easton for many years.  She was also an avid Phillies fan.

Survivors:  Husband, Erwin; sons, Wayne Deemer and his wife, Michelle of Palmer Township and Ronald Deemer of Easton; daughter, Linda Shober and her husband, Michael of Bethlehem Township; sister, Edith Schwind of Patterson, NJ; grandchildren, Jeff Zemgulis, Joseph Shober and Linda Best; and three great grandchildren.  Ten brothers and sisters died earlier.

Services:  Services will be private.  Interment in Easton Heights Cemetery.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Waldimir “Walt” Semenyna, 71, of Easton died Sunday, September 1, 2013 in Easton Hospital.

Born: May 29, 1942 in Newark, NJ he was a son of the late Waldimir and Marie Semenyna. He and his wife Betty have been married for 42 years.

Personal: A graduate of Lehigh University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering he had been employed by SI Handling in Forks Twp. for 13 years; Honeywell in Quakertown; and as an adjunct professor at Lafayette College. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was an avid organic gardener and accomplished pianist.

Memberships: He was a member of Bethel Memorial Baptist Church, Palmer Twp. where he especially enjoyed the children in his Sunday School Class and Awana. He was a member of the Ukrainian National Association and was a Ukrainian history enthusiast.

Survivors: His wife: Betty; step-daughters: Barbara Goldman; Kathleen Oots and her husband Mark; Donna Jones; June Beaver and her husband Steve; siblings: Nestor Semenyna and his wife Dorothy; Vera Mrohs; Shirley Young; step-siblings: Marta Farmiga and her husband Oleh; Evhen Rudakevych and his wife Olga; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Services: Will be 2:00 p.m. Friday (9/6) in the Bethel Memorial Baptist Church, 715 Chestnut Lane, Palmer Twp., with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. in the church. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Karl R. Jud, 87, of Forks Twp., PA formerly of Warren and Pittstown, NJ, died Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in Gracedale.

Born: March 14, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA he was the only child of the late Karl and Rose (Meitz) Jud.

Personal: He received a degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and was employed by Airco in Pittsburgh and NJ for 40 years and Metal Welding Co. in Allentown. He had also been employed by Wilson Products. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII in the South Pacific and  volunteered at Easton Hospital for 10 years.

Memberships: He was a member of Forks United Church of Christ; the Warren Twp. Lions Club; and was a Past-President of the Plainfield Twp. Lions Club in PA.

Survivors: His wife of 63 years, the former Joan Evans; a son: Robert K. Jud and his wife Fran of Clarks Summit, PA; daughters: Karen A. Wilson and her husband Arthur of Warren, NJ; Linda S. Galante and her husband Richard of Stroudsburg, PA; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-granddaughters.

Services: A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 15, 2013 in Forks United Church of Christ, 4500 Sullivan Trail, Stockertown, PA; the Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements. Interment will be in Somerset Hills Cemetery, Basking Ridge, NJ.

Susie Aufrecht, a resident of Country Meadows, Bethlehem Township, formerly of Palmer Township, died on Sunday, August 25, 2013, 92 years young. Born in Heilbronn, Germany, she was a daughter of Nanny and Siegfrid Steigerwald, who, as the Nazis continued their persecution of the Jews and others, sent Susie and her sister, Edith, out of Germany, Susie to America and Edith to England. Her parents subsequently died at the hands of the Nazis in the Theresienstadt death camp in 1942. She met and married Frank Aufrecht, to whom she was devoted until his death in 1976. She spent most of her life in retail, first in Plainfield, New Jersey, where her daughters were raised, and then in Easton, where she moved to be closer to her daughter, Nancy. In Easton, she worked at several stores, particularly Pomeroy’s and Sherwoods, where she was well known to multitudes of mothers and mothers-to-be. Susie, even while working, spent time volunteering for Meals on Wheels, ProJeCt of Easton, and the Mitzvah Committee of Bnai Abraham Synagogue. She was a generous contributor to many charities and to friends when help was needed, usually quietly and without recognition. She was a life member of Hadassah and a long-time member of Bnai Abraham Synagogue and its Sisterhood and a regular attendee of its service, where she invariably had the distinct honor of opening the Ark holding the sacred Torah scrolls. For reasons that only she knew, she loved seeing the clock at 11:11 and would giggle at the sight. The last 18 months of her life were spent in great comfort at Country Meadows, where the entire staff treated her with great respect, affection, and wonderful care.

Survivors: Her daughter, Nancy Cohen and her husband, Daniel, of Easton; her daughter, Deborah Noll and her husband, Gerry, of Ferguson, Missouri; and grandchildren, Jennifer Cohen, Amy Michael and her husband, David, Timothy Noll and his wife, Sarah, Benjamin Noll and his friend, Mia, and Michael Noll; as well as the most adorable great-grandchild any great-grandmother ever had, Elijah Noll; and a nephew and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank J. Aufrecht, and her sister, Edith Hatfield. She was beloved by many and will be missed.

Services: 2:00 p.m. Today (Tuesday ~ Aug. 27) in the Bnai Abraham Synagogue, 1458 Bushkill Street, Easton. The  Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.  Interment will be in Bnai Abraham Cemetery, Forks Twp.
