Frances A. Snyder

June 24, 2013

Frances A. Snyder, 83, of Forks Township, died Monday, June 24, 2013 in Gracedale.

Born:  April 5, 1930 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late W. Carson and Frances (Shimer) Wallace.

Personal:  She and her husband, Robert A. Snyder, were married 58 years.  Frances worked at the Pocono Raceway for 20 years in the 80’s and 90’s.

Survivors:  Husband, Robert; a daughter, Bonny Kitson and her husband, Larry, of Forks Township; a son, Glen Snyder and his wife, Kelly, of Saylorsburg; 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Services:  A visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm Thursday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  Services and interment will be private.

Frederick S. Meyers

June 24, 2013

Frederick S. Meyers, 88, of (Lopatcong Twp.), NJ died Monday, June 24, 2013 in his home.

Born: November 6, 1924 in Easton he was a son of the late Walter S. and Elizabeth (Schafer) Meyers.

Personal: He had been Foreman of the Cameron Division of Ingersoll-Rand from 1946 until retiring in 1987. He served in the US Marine Corps during WWII and received the Purple Heart for service on Iwo Jima. He was also an avid golfer.

Survivors: His son: Wes S. Meyers of Block Island, RI; daughter: Beth S. Meyers of Lopatcong Twp., NJ and beloved nieces and nephews. His wife: June (Saxton) Meyers died in 1984.

Services: 10:00 a.m. Monday (July 1) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with visitation from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Kathleen H. Hackman

June 19, 2013

Kathleen H. Hackman, of Wind Gap, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in Easton Hospital.

Born:  Born in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Emillio and Concetta (Dell’Alba) Ricciardelli.

Personal:  Her husband, Wallace R. “Hack” Hackman died in 2007.  Kathleen was a fashion retailer in the Lehigh Valley.  She owned and operated Berkayes Women’s Apparel, Wind Gap.  She later managed several Alice Kay Women’s Apparel stores in the Lehigh Valley.  Kathleen graduated from Pen Argyl Area High School in 1950.

Memberships:  She was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, Pen Argyl.

Survivors:  Her son, Craig Hackman of Mt. Pocono, PA.

Services:  A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 am in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, 300 W. Babbitt Ave., Pen Argyl.  Call from 6 to 7:30 pm Friday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  Interment in Wind Gap Cemetery.

Theodore G. “Ted” Wells

June 19, 2013

Theodore “Ted” Gregory Wells, 60, of Kingston, PA passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the home of Bob Wells and Usha Patel.

Born: June 28th, 1952 in Wilkes Barre, PA he was a son of Georgette (Potasky) Wells and the late Theodore Carl Wells.

Personal: He was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West HS, Class of 1970 and attended Walsh College. Ted was an active enthusiast for bonsai and cacti and loved hunting, cooking, and playing with his dog Jax.

Memberships: He was a recently retired stone mason and member of International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsworkers Local 5.

Survivors: His mother: Georgette Wells; his sisters: Nancy Wells; Jane Wells Schooley; his brother: Bob Wells; brother-in-law: Stuart Schooley; and sister-in-law: Usha Patel all of the Lehigh Valley; numerous cousins and his beloved and faithful canine, Jax.

Services: Will be private in the Wyoming Valley. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Susan Marjorie Cohn Bilder

Susan Marjorie Cohn Bilder, 72, of Bethlehem Twp., PA died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at her home.

Born: May 27, 1941 in Easton she was the daughter of the late Leonard M. and Irene (Nussman) Cohn.

Personal: She had been an educator in the Easton Area School District and an Assistant Buyer for the former Laubach’s Department Store, Easton before retiring. She was a graduate of Easton High School and Mt. Ida College. She also volunteered at several area nursing homes.

Memberships: She was a member of the Temple Covenant of Peace, Easton.

Survivors: Two sons: Matthew Bilder, MD of York, PA; Scott Bilder, PhD of North Brunswick, NJ; 2 grandsons: Quinn and Ashe Bilder; sister-in-law: Nancy Shooker Cohn; niece: Hilary Crumley and great-nephews: Jacob and Ryder Crumley. She was predeceased by her parents: Leonard and Irene and her brother: Randy Cohn.

Services: A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date by the Ashton Funeral Home, Easton.

Richard A. Moser, Sr.

Richard A. Moser, Sr., 77, of Wilson Borough, died Sunday, June 9, 2013 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg.

Born:  June 4, 1936 in Williams Township, he was a son of the late Arthur H. G. Moser and the late Alice Mae (Smith) Sliker and step-son of the late Roy J Sliker.

Personal:  He and his wife, the former Jean Quick were married 54 years.  He was a machine operator for James River, Forks Township for 17 years retiring in 1998 and he served in the Army National Guard.

Memberships:  He was a member of the Friends of the Mary Meuser Memorial Library and the Order of Fleas.  He was an avid bowler at Bar-Don Lanes and bingo player.

Survivors:  wife, Jean; daughter, Tamara Houck and her husband, Tim of Bethlehem; sons, Richard A. Moser, Jr. and his wife Jane of Wilson Borough and Kevin R. Moser and his companion, Dot of Williams Township; a brother Gilbert R. Sliker of Florida; a sister, Linda J. Corcoran of New Hampshire; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Services:  A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  Call from noon until service time Thursday in the funeral home.

Gerard M. “Gerry” Bojda

Gerard M. “Gerry” Bojda, 56, of Easton, (Forks Twp.), PA died Sunday, June 9, 2013 in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg after a battle with malignant melanoma.

Born: January 29, 1957 in Detroit, MI he was a son of Dolores (Okon) Bojda of West Branch, MI and the late Anthony Bojda.

Personal: He had been employed by Johnson & Johnson in El Paso, TX and in NJ from 1993 until his diagnosis in March. Prior to that he had been employed by Honeywell Corp. from 1980 to 1993. He was a graduate of Lake Superior State University with a BS in Electrical Engineering and he received his MBA from the University of Texas, El Paso.

Memberships: He attended the Cornerstone Ev. Free Church, Easton and was a member of the Forks Fitness Club.

Survivors: His mother: Dolores; his wife of 31 years: the former Mary McClure; three sons: Nicholas M. of Philadelphia; Ryan A. of Bethlehem; Kyle C. of Forks Twp.; two brothers: Phillip and his wife Dawn of Barton City, MI; Gregory and his wife Connie of Westland, MI; and sister: Janet LeBlanc and her husband Larry of Surprise, AZ.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday (6/14) in Cornerstone Ev. Free Church, 411 March Street, Easton, with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment will be in Forks Cemetery.

George T. “Bim” Howells, III

George T. "Bim" Howells, III

George T. “Bim” Howells, III, 48, of Easton, died Saturday, June 1, 2013 in his home.

Born:  January 18, 1965 in Easton, he was a son of George T. Howells, Jr. of Easton and the late Maureen (Smith) Howells.

Personal:  He was the assistant chef at the Pomfret Club, Easton.  Prior to that he was the assistant chef at the Y R Club, Easton for over 30 years where he was known for his famous coleslaw.  He attended Easton Area High School and Northampton Community College and was very generous to our homeless community.

Survivors:  Father, George, Jr.; step-mother, Linda Howells of Easton; three sisters, Dawn Magilton and her husband, Tom, of Palmer Township; Linda Jane Howells of Easton and Jennifer Smoke of Mt. Bethel and a brother, Thomas G. Howells of Bethlehem.

Services:  A visitation will be held on Monday, June 3 from 6 – 7:30 pm in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.
