Pearl A. “Nan” Grube

Pearl A. “Nan” Grube, 87, of Easton died Thursday, August 18, 2011 in Easton Hospital.

Born: December 2, 1923 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Arch and Nora (Wilson) Fulmer.

Personal: She graduated from Easton High School in 1941.

Survivors:  A son, Gary Horn and his companion, Mary Mulligan with whom she resided; a daughter, Patricia Werkheiser of Bethlehem; 11 grandchildren, Alissa, Carrie, Billy, Lauren, Emmie, Torey, Jeff, Michael, Erika, Jamie and Cassie; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and Leeann Ross and Kelly Reuther whom she raised. A son, Barry Horn; a daughter, Sharon Pilz and 2 sisters, Leah Bauer and Mildred Abel died earlier.

Services: Services will be private. The Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton is handling the arrangements.

Joseph G. Ambrusico Sr.

Joseph G. Ambrusico, Sr., 85, of Nazareth, formerly of Stonecroft Dr., Palmer died Sunday, August 14, 2011 in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg.

Born: July 18, 1926 in Milburn, NJ he was a son of the late Fred and Antoinette Leonardo Ambrosio. His wife, the former Santina Consoli, died in 2007.

Personal: he had been an auto mechanic most of his life and was a WWII Army veteran and Battle of the Bulge survivor. He had also volunteered for “Place for Us” at the Easton Middle School.

Survivors: daughters: Marie Kimbrough and her husband Mark of Forks Twp.; Gina Ambrusico-Lynn and her husband Michael, with whom he resided; a son: Joseph “Jay” Ambrusico, Jr. and his wife Dolores of Independence, WV; a brother: Nicholas Ambrusio of Glendale, NY; sisters: Antoinette Marone of Piscataway, NJ; Clara Fisher of Orlando, FL and 5 grandchildren: Ashley, Andrew, Justin, Gabriella and Thomas.

Services: a memorial service will be held 3 PM Wednesday in Phillipsburg Alliance Church, 255 Lincoln St., Phillipsburg, NJ with a viewing from 1 to 2:30 PM in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St.,  Easton.

Anibal Giraldo

Anibal Giraldo, 73, of Easton died Thursday, August 11, 2011 in Easton Hospital.

Born: August 13, 1937 in Columbia, he was a son of the late Gregorio and Maria Antonia (Rodriguez) Giraldo.

Personal: He was a caregiver at Hagedorn Hospital, Glen Gardner, NJ.

Memberships: He was a member of Easton Senior Citizen’s Center.

Services: A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Tuesday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.

John F. McNally, Jr.

August 8, 2011

John F. McNally, Jr., 69, of Easton died Monday, August 8, 2011 at home surrounded by his family.

Born: February 6, 1942 in Easton he was a son of the late John, Sr. and Dorothy Werkheiser McNally. He and his wife Theresa Markle McNally have been married 35 years.

Personal: He was a roofer in the Easton area for many years and had also been employed by the Easton Cab Company and the Easton Express.

Memberships: He was a member of the Bushkill Valley and Concordia Maennerchor Quoits Leagues.

Survivors: his wife; 8 sons: John.McNally, III; Jonathan McNally; Jason, Sr.; Kevin McNally; Bryan McNally; Todd McNally; Michael Hineline; Floyd Hineline; 4 daughters: Connie  Bisher; Tammy Maysonet; Bonnie McNally; Christine Hineline; siblings: James and Shirley McNally; 30 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren. Two sisters died earlier.

Services: visitation will be held from 2 to 3 PM Friday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 14th and Northampton Sts., Easton. Services will be private.

Memorials: may be made to the American Heart Assoc.

 

Barry J. Roecker

August 6, 2011

Barry J. Roecker, 61, of Norwalk, CT passed away peacefully Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Yale New Haven Hospital with family at his side. Born in Easton, PA, he was a son of Jack H. Roecker of Alachua, FL and Warrington, PA and the late Bernice (Black) Roecker.

Barry was a graduate of William Tennent High School. As a member of the wrestling and track and field teams, he set a number of records and held those records for many years.  He graduated from Princeton University, continuing track, wrestling and playing rugby.

A man of adventure and fun, he spent the year after graduation traveling Europe before he began his career with the pharmaceutical industry.  Prior to retirement, he was a scientific affairs liaison at Bayer Laboratories.

His life was rich with enduring friendships and a passion for living life to the fullest.  As he would say, “Live each day as a holiday, and tomorrow as a new year.”  Living an active and fulfilling life, his interests were wide and far ranging including sailing, flying, traveling, owning horses, playing rugby, skiing, etc.

He is survived by his father, Jack; sister, Lois Daggett and her husband, Ronald of Warminster and a niece, Michelle Rummel and her husband, Dean of Easton. His niece, Lynn Daggett died earlier.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 13 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time. Interment will follow at Northampton Memorial Shrine.

On Sunday, August 21st, friends and neighbors are invited to visit with family during hours 1 to 4 pm at 23 Channel Rd., Norwalk, CT 06854.

Lewis O. Ogioba

Lewis O. Ogioba, 15, of Forks Twp., died Wednesday, August 3, 2011 in Easton Hospital.

Born: June 23, 1996 in Newark, NJ he was the son of Chris and Helen Ogioba.

Personal: He would have been a 10th grade student at Easton High School where he played on the JV Basketball Team. He was a member of the Ministry of the Word International, Newark.

Survivors: his parents; a sister: Princess; grandfather: Philip Puke in Nigeria and many aunts, uncles, family and friends.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Forks United Church of Christ, 4500 Sullivan Trail, Stockertown, PA with a calling period from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the church; arrangements: Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment will be in Forks Cemetery.

Laura B. Whipple

Grief Support

Laura B. Whipple, 75 of Williams Twp., PA formerly of Bridgewater, NJ died at home Monday, August 1, 2011 surrounded by her family.

Born: November 13, 1935 in Michigan City, IN she was the daughter of the late Paul and Ruth Stevens Biery. She and her husband, Paul H. Whipple have been married for 49 years.

Personal: A 1957 graduate of Douglas College, she received her Master’s Degree in Library Science from Rutgers University. She was a children’s librarian in Franklin Twp. and Bridgewater Elementary Schools for many years. Prior to that she was a PR specialist for a pharmaceutical company in NJ.  She was also an award winning Author of children’s books; an Anthologist and Poet.

Memberships: she was a member of College Hill Presbyterian Church, Easton and former longtime member of Christ Presbyterian Church, Martinsville, NJ.

Survivors: her husband Paul; daughter: Jennifer of Bexley, OH; sons: Brian of N. Andover, MA.; Steven of Takoma Park, MD; brother: Fred Biery of Lakeland, FL and 6 grandchildren.

Services: Memorial Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday in College Hill Presbyterian Church, 501 Brodhead Street, Easton, PA; with a calling period from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, PA.

Theodore Kastrinakas

Theodore P. Kastrinakis, 78, of Palmer Township, died peacefully on Sunday, July 31, 2011.

Born: March 9, 1933 in Maleme, Crete, Greece, he was a son of the late Petros and Evaggelia Manoudakis Kastrinakis.

Personal: He and his beloved wife, the former Victoria Apostolopoulos celebrated 50 years of marriage this past July 16th. He immigrated to Easton in 1954, whereupon he joined the United States Army. In 1966 he co-founded Richard’s Drive In, tirelessly serving his loyal customers until his retirement in 1998. Affectionately known as Pappou to all, he graciously donated his time and energy to his family, church and community. Pappou loved traveling back to his homeland of Greece and he was also an avid Yankees fan.

Memberships: He was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Wilson Borough, where he was a long time council member. He was also a member of AHEPA.

Survivors: wife, Victoria; three daughters, Eve Gouskos and her husband, Dennis of Palmer Township, Kathy Galanos and her husband, Lambros of Bethlehem Township and Maria Kastrinakis and her husband, Marc Devlin of Easton; two sisters, Stamatia Dimou of Allentown and Eleni Koustogiannakis of Crete, Greece; and six grandchildren, Francine, Victoria, Ari, Theo, Eirini and Theodora.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday in Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 321 S. 20th St., Wilson Borough. Call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the church with Trisagion Service at 8:30 p.m. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.
