George D. Hockman, Sr., 69, of Raubsville died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 surrounded by his family in the Liberty Nursing Center, Allentown.
Born: September 7, 1942 in Coffeetown, PA, he was a son of the late Elvin A., Sr. and Anna C. (Hagley) Hockman.
Personal: He and his wife, the former June Gerard were married 40 years. He was a sergeant in the Army during the Vietnam War and received two Purple Hearts and a Commendation Medal. He was a groundskeeper at Woodland Hills Country Club for 15 years. Prior to that he worked for Hummel Lumber, Easton. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed his trips to Lancaster and he was an avid NASCAR, Phillies and Eagles fan.
Memberships: George was a life member of the Raubsville Sportsmen’s Association.
Survivors: Wife, June; two daughters, Connie Smith and her husband, John of Nazareth and Debbie Munkirs and her husband, Scott of Easton; a son, George Hockman, Jr. of Phillipsburg; five brothers, Donald Hockman and his wife, Barbara of Williams Township, Ronald Hockman of Williams Township, Palmer Hockman and his wife, Dottie of West Easton, Simon Hockman of Easton and Edward Hockman of Easton; two sisters, Pauline Kester and her husband, Donald of Raubsville and Joyce Anderson of Pen Argyl; and six grandchildren, Zachary, Derek, Meghan, Dylan, Peyton and Faith. A brother, Elvin Hockman, Jr. and three sisters, Betty King, Carrie Smith and Dorothy Csordas died earlier.
Services: 10:30 Monday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Township. Call from 3 – 4:30 pm Sunday in the funeral home.
