Harold A. Ryerson

Harold A. Ryerson, 92, formerly of Palmer Township, died Monday, April 26, 2021.

Born August 15, 1928 in Forks Township, he was a son of the late Albert and Pearl (Hawk) Ryerson. His first wife, Esther C. (Moser) Ryerson died in 1998 and his second wife, Adele V. (Pierson) Ryerson died in 2016.
Harold served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He was a supervisor in the foundry division at Ingersoll-Rand, Phillipsburg for 30 years and retired in 1984. He was an avid traveler.

Surviving are two sisters, Emily Storm and Nancy Vought. His brother, Roderick Ryerson died earlier.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Wednesday. Interment will be in Northampton Memoria Shrine.

Peter L. “Big Pete” Schoen, Sr.

Peter L. “Big Pete” Schoen, Sr., 79, of Palmer Township, died Monday, April 26, 2021 in his home.

Born June 13, 1941 in Germany, he was a son of the late Henry and Sigried (Kugel) Schoen. His wife, Margaret R. (Dillman) Schoen died in 2009.

Pete worked at Rexham Corporation, Flemington, NJ and also at Mike’s Steak Shop, Easton.

Surviving are his children, Rosemarie Schoen, Peter Schoen, Jr., and Angeline Gilroy and her husband, Jeff; a brother, Ralph Schoen; and three grandchildren, Alec, James and Joshua.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at The American Legion, Brown and Lynch Post #9, 2260 Corriere Drive, Easton. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Lovene N. Heller

Lovene N. Heller

Lovene N. Heller, 82 of Forks Twp., PA died Thursday, April 22, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem. Born November 15, 1938 in Stockertown, PA he was a son of the late Lester and Lena (Frantz) Heller. He was a 1956 graduate of Easton High School and an Army veteran. He was a foreman for the ECM Department of Met-Ed for 38 years before retiring in 1994. Lovene was a Past-President of the James B. “Pat” Reilly Scholarship Fund and served on the Board of the Easton-Phillipsburg Old timers Club. He coached Midget football, little league and played softball. He was also a member of the Palmer tennis league, the Masonic Lodge of Easton and he loved gardening.

Lovene is survived by his wife of 56 years: Jane (Ott) Heller; his daughter: Luann Wismer (husband Ted) of Walnutport, PA; stepdaughter: Vickie Corriere (husband Ford) of Easton, PA; brothers: Francis and Leon Heller of Forks Twp., PA; a sister: Eleanor Ott of Nazareth; two grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A sister: Marlene Hall died earlier.

Graveside services will be held 2 PM Friday (April 30) at the Northampton Memorial Shrine Mausoleum; the Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Offer online condolences at www.AshtonFuneralHome.com.

 

James L. “Jim” Dziedzic

James L. “Jim” Dziedzic, 66, of Williams Township, died Tuesday, April 20, 2021 following a cycling accident.

Born October 2, 1954 in Hackensack, NJ, he was the son of the late Fred T. and Virginia (Smulewicz) Dziedzic. He and his wife, Elizabeth “Betsy” (Klebe) Dziedzic were married 33 years.

Jim grew up in Maywood, NJ, and graduated from Bergen Catholic High School, Oradell, NJ and Marist College, Poughkeepsie, NY where he rowed varsity crew. He worked for Crown Equipment Corp of New Jersey for 20 years, beginning in sales and finally, as Branch Manager. Prior to that he worked for Banque Indosuez in New York City and Mack Trucks in New Jersey.
After commuting 150 miles a day for twenty years, he retired in 2005 so he could be with his children before they grew up and left the nest. Taking care of the kids and the house became his new full-time job. It also allowed him to pursue his passions. Jim was an avid cyclist, golfer and skier and was a ski instructor at Blue Mountain. He was also a car enthusiast and frequently participated in car club performance driving events.

He was a member of College Hill Presbyterian Church, Easton, a Boy Scout leader with Troop 31, Williams Township, accompanying his son and the troop to Philmont and Sea Base. He also served on the budget committee of Williams Township.

Surviving with his wife, Betsy, are a son, J. Gordon Dziedzic and his wife, Ann of New York City; a daughter, Kristen L. Dziedzic and her fiancé, Nicholas V. Liguori of Baltimore, MD; a brother, Jerry Dziedzic and his wife, Laura of Pattenburg, NJ; an uncle, Max Smulewicz and his wife, Ann; and brothers-in-law, Chuck Klebe and Jim Klebe.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Durham Cemetery, 821 Durham Rd., Durham, PA. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday, April 25, 2021 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.

Chrysanthe Swan

Chrysanthe Swan

Chrysanthe Swan, 92, of Easton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Greenwich Hospital in Connecticut. Born June 15, 1928 in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Anthony G. and Margaret (Schratt) Englesson. On October 22, 1950 she married the only love of her life, Frank W. Swan, and together they shared 63 years before his passing in 2014. Chris was a 1945 graduate of William Allen High School and attended Churchman’s Business School. “Teeny” as she was called her entire life, went on to work as a bookkeeper at Montgomery Ward until the birth of her first child.

Chris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a friend to many. She was unparalleled in her zeal for life, her constant quest for knowledge and her artistic creativity. Chris loved to laugh, went to great lengths to make every occasion special and was proud of her Greek heritage. She was especially proud of her PA state award for never missing an election. All who knew Chris would tell you she was quick to care for friends, family and neighbors, delivering meals, well wishes and treasured pieces of original art. She worshipped at the former Christ Lutheran Church and most recently at St. John’s Lutheran Church and was a passionate contributor to St. John’s Art Gallery Committee as well as an active member of Friends of the Library, her Quilters group, Forks Township Art Guild and Writers Group, and the National Assoc. of Retired Federal Employees. Over the years Chris collected thousands of bottle caps for Big Brothers / Big Sisters and aluminum can tabs for a neighboring elementary school.

She is survived by her daughter Cathy (Maura); her son Thomas (Susan); her brothers: George and Emmanuel Englesson; two grandchildren: Stephanie (Jeff) and Andrew (Candace); and two great grandchildren: Rebecka and Addy Chrysanthe.

Services are 10 AM Saturday (April 24) in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 330 Ferry St., Easton with visitation from 9 to 10 AM in the church. Interment is in Easton Cemetery.

Paul H. Fulmer

Paul H. Fulmer

Paul H. Fulmer, 72 of Forks Twp., PA died peacefully and surrounded by love, Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem, PA, on his own terms, just as he lived his life. Born October 28, 1948 in Phillipsburg, NJ he was a son of the late Harley and Helen (Porter) Fulmer. His wife, Sharon (Allen) Fulmer, died in 2019, they celebrated 44 years of marriage before her passing. He was a 1966 graduate of Phillipsburg High School and employed by Burd Motors in Washington, NJ, Young Volkswagon, Easton and the Holy Family Club in Nazareth. He was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Easton Area Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1992 and the NJ State Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1996. He was a car enthusiast and loved teaching and talking to his grandsons about them. His greatest accomplishment in life was being a Dad and PapPap.

He is survived by his children: Ryan (Jodi) of Nazareth, PA, Nicole Fulmer of Bethlehem Twp., PA; sisters: Betty Gerber (Joe) of Palmer Twp., H. Faye Palmer (Bobbi) in VT and grandchildren: Kevin, Kaleb, Derek, Reid and Aspen. A sister Lorraine Tinsman died earlier.

A calling period will be held from 4 to 6 PM Wednesday (April 28) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, PA. Services are private due to COVID concerns. Roland E. “Ronnie” Overholt

Roland E. “Ronnie” Overholt, 94, formerly of Forks Township, died Tuesday, April 20, 2021 in Florida.

Born October 4, 1926 in Forks Township, he was a son of the late Warren and Violet (Bigley) Overholt. His first wife, Doris (Anderson) Overholt died in 1995 and his second wife, Lorraine (Anderson) Andrews Overholt died in 2011.

Ronnie served in the Navy during WWII. He was a manager at Easton Wholesale Grocery for over 40 years and was a part time Forks Township police officer. He was a member of the Order of Fleas, Easton.

Surviving are his children, Mark Overholt and Patricia Gold; three grandsons and five great grandchildren. His brothers, Warren and Jacob Overholt died earlier.

Services will be private with interment in Northampton Memorial Shrine. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Timothy O. Dorsey, Sr.

Timothy O. Dorsey, Sr., 61, of Palmer Twp., PA died Saturday, April 17, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Bethlehem. Born February 2, 1960 in Easton, PA he was a son of Barbara (McNally) Norman and the late Oscar Dorsey. A 1978 graduate of Easton High School, he was a contractor in PA and NJ. He was an avid outdoorsman and member of the Stockertown Rod and Gun Club. Tim loved fishing, hunting and time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children: Timothy Dorsey, Jr. (wife Christine) of Coopersburg, PA, Sara Dorsey of Hellertown, PA; his longtime companion of 30 years: Lynda Hendricks; a brother: Craig Dorsey of Wilson Borough; sisters: Valerie Flagg of Pocono Summit, PA, Leandra Tennessee in MD and grandchildren: Kendall and Andersen “A.J.” Dorsey.

A graveside service will be held 11:30 AM Friday (April 23) at Northampton Memorial Shrine, 3051 Green Pond Rd., Easton with a calling period from 10 to 11 AM in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, PA.
