Judy Marie Seawood, 79 of Effort, PA was given the gift of life and has now returned it for everlasting peace on Monday, March 16, 2020. Her final days were shared lovingly with her six children that she gave life to and her adoring grandchildren, the greatest loves of her life. Born and raised in Easton, PA the devoted daughter of the late Dr. John and Marie (Halley) Coffee, Judy grew up, with her sisters: Patricia Miller of Frostburg, MD and the late Nancy Hawkes. She married her high school sweetheart, the late Richard “Red” Seawood and together they filled their loving home with their six children: Daniel Seawood of Effort, David Seawood and his wife Kelly of Milton, PA, Debra Hartley, Dawn Wieder and the late Jim Wieder, Darryl Seawood, and Dana Seawood all of Effort.
In addition to surviving raising 6 teenagers, Judy worked for several years at Joseph’s in downtown Easton before retiring after 25 years as a secretary for Harvel Plastics in Forks Township. She was very fashion conscience and the envy of many a thrift store shopper with her bargain finds. She was generous with her open gate policy, inviting others in to enjoy her backyard pool that gave her such pleasure; pleasure she wanted to share. An avid sun lover, Judy enjoyed summer camping trips to the Jersey shore where she purchased her first surfboard from a tiny Ron Jons shack on LBI before starting her collection of 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Jokingly referred to as the Matriarch (she hated that), she always had time for those that called her Nanny, G-Nanny, and GG Nanny: Rachel, Chad, Trish, Jonny, Megan, Erik, Austin, Ryan, Jimmy, Chris, Aime, Devon, Katie, Tylor, Gwen, Shyla, Thomas, Nevaeh, Autumn, Nova, and Nohea all of whom will spend the rest of their lives attempting to duplicate their beloved grandmothers fabulous mac and cheese and brilliantly worded (not really) Easter Egg Hunt poems. She lost a piece of her heart with the passing of two of her dear grandsons Little Jim and Ray but is now enjoying a beautiful reunion in heaven.
Anyone that met Judy instantly felt cared about and welcomed into her life. It was not unusual for people to make requests to be adopted by her. She lived by example teaching her children to always be respectful, kind and compassionate and she recognized the value of humor and always found a way to laugh, even at herself. Judy’s beautiful reunion with her grandsons, parents, sister and other loved ones will be unimaginably glorious. Even though her husband will be delighted to finally hug her again, it will not be long before they are bickering about her new mission to wallpaper heaven.
Chronically late and rarely on time Judy, true to form, will literally be late for her own funeral, a joke often shared with family and friends. Concern for the health and welfare of all the lives Judy touched in her beautiful lifetime, her funeral service will be postponed until further notice due to the Pandemic. Arrangements will be announced by the Ashton Funeral Home, Easton.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society and online condolences may be offered at www.AshtonFuneralHome.com.
