Eugenia L. "Jean" Foss

Eugenia Lois “Jean” Foss, 92 of Martins Creek, PA died Sunday, March 28, 2021 at home. Born May 26, 1928 in Easton, PA she was a daughter of the late Sara D. (VanNortwick) and Thomas F. Mandarino. A 1945 graduate of Easton High School, she had been employed by the City of Easton in the Office of the Treasurer. Jean was a lifetime member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Easton.

She is survived by her children: Scott Foss, with whom she resided, Steve Foss (wife Marcia) of Old Forge, PA, Sally Murgia (husband Peter) of Forks Twp., PA; a sister: Ellen Moskella of Bethlehem Twp., PA; and 4 grandchildren: Marissa, Katrina, Giavanna and Matthew. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Clarence E. “Chub” Foss who died March 24, 2020 and her brother: Thomas Mandarino.

A Funeral Mass will be held 10 AM Wednesday (March 31) at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 9th and Lehigh Streets, Easton. Interment will be private in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. David C. Bowser

David C. Bowser

David C. Bowser, 65, of Easton, PA died Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus, Bethlehem Twp., PA. Born December 11, 1955 in Olean, NY he was the son of Mary Pat (Heliker) Livingston of Bloomington, IN and the late Archie M. Bowser, Jr. David’s strong work ethic showed at an early age. Starting in grade school he worked in the tobacco fields in Broad Brook, CT. He was a caddy for the local golf course and wrote a newspaper for his community. He attended Rutgers University and owned and operated All Inclusive Kitchens with his son for 16 years. Prior to that he was the Vice President of a Burger King franchise in Plainfield, NJ.

Dave was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He completed a two-year mission in the Washington, D.C. area before moving to the Easton Ward where he served in many positions. He especially enjoyed serving in the Philadelphia LDS Temple. He was a Cubmaster, Easton Den 187; Northampton County Judge of Elections and once ran for Easton City Council. Dave will be remembered as a diehard Giants and Red Sox fan. He will be loved and missed by all his family and friends.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of almost 43 years: Patricia (Steele) Bowser; his son: David Bowser, II (wife Amber) of Palmer Twp., PA; daughters: Kara Bowser and Katlyn Gordon (husband Scott) all of Greencastle, PA; sisters: Debra Glenn of South Jordan, UT, Esther Bowser in Brazil; stepmother: Erika Bowser, stepfather: Julian Livingston and grandchildren: Ava, Alivia, Amelia and Dechlan. Granddaughter Kayla predeceased him.

Services will be 11:15 AM Thursday (April 1) in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 120 Rose Inn Ave., Nazareth with visitation from 10 to 11 AM in the church. Stewart A. Wolbach, 86, of Easton, PA died Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus. Born January 7, 1935 in Williams Twp., PA he was the son of the late Edith (Hoffman) and Allen Wolbach. He was a member of First United Church of Christ, Easton and is survived by his sister Carol Harrison of Williams Twp., PA.

Barbara Kowitz

Barbara Kowitz

 Barbara Kowitz, 64, of Easton, PA died Friday, March 19, 2021 at home. Born February 19, 1957 in Wilson Borough, PA she was a daughter of the late Marjorie L. (Krohn) and Jack N. Kowitz. She was a graduate of Drew University with a degree in Sociology. Barb was employed by Northampton County in the Public Assistance Office and prior to that she was with the Sigal Museum, ProJeCt of Easton and City of Easton Planning Department. She had been a member of the Easton Kiwanis Club, the ACLU and the former Temple Covenant of Peace.

She is survived by her sons: Andrew D. Kelly and Jacob B. Kelly, her “adopted” son: Kevin M. Schimes all at home; and a sister: Deborah.

A calling period will be held from 1 to 2 PM Thursday (March 25) at the Easton Cemetery Chapel, 401 N. 7th St., Easton. Services are private. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

James R. Kilpatrick

James R. Kilpatrick, 71, of Camp Hill, formerly of Easton, died Friday, March 19, 2021 in UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg.

Born September 24, 1949 in Wilson Borough, he was a son of Mamie I. (Stoneback) Kilpatrick of Easton and the late Herbert E. Kilpatrick, Jr. He and his wife, Nancy M. (Bickert) Kilpatrick were married 42 years.

Jim served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and worked as a superintendent at Taylor-Wharton for 40 years until retiring in 2010. He was an avid softball player and was a wrestling and football coach.

Surviving with his mother, Mamie and his wife, Nancy, are his stepchildren, Norman “Pete” Stout and his wife, DKay, Kimberly Wismer, Cheryl Konopaski, and Charlene Pleiss; two sisters, Patricia Vincent and Kathleen Vincent; a stepdaughter-in-law, Tracy; twelve step grandchildren; and eighteen step great grandchildren. His stepchildren, Robert Stout and Robin Kilpatrick; his brother, Robert Kilpatrick; and his step granddaughter, Jessica died earlier.

A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 pm on Sunday, March 28, 2021 and from 10:00 to 10:30 am on Monday, March 29, 2021 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 29, 2021 in Easton Cemetery.

John R. Chunko

John R. Chunko, 63, of Wilson Borough, died Thursday, March 18, 2021 in St. Luke’s Hospice House. Born July 6, 1957 in Easton, he was a son of the late Louis and Julia (Haschak) Chunko. He and his wife, Deborah (Patterson) Chunko were married 40 years.

John was a supervisor at Lafayette College for over 40 years and was a member of Citizen’s Hose Co. and the Order of Fleas.

Surviving with his wife, Deborah, are his daughter, Lori Chunko, three sisters, Charlotte Miller, Sue Schmeltzly and Helen Chunko and two brothers, Joseph Chunko and Robert Chunko.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Friday, March 26, 2021 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Services will be private. Interment will be in Union Cemetery of Hellertown.

John T. “Jack” Koch

John T. “Jack” Koch, 89, a resident of Wilson Borough since the early 1960’s, died Thursday, March 18, 2021 in Alexandria Manor, Nazareth.

Born May 21, 1931 in Phillipsburg, he was a son of the late Raymond L. and G. Anna “Honey” (Zulauf) Koch. His wife, Barbara Jane (Inscho) Koch died in 1993. Jack and Barbara were married in 1959.
Jack graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1949. He served as a mechanic in the Air Force, 19th Bomb Squad during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955 as part of the Strategic Air Command. He was stationed at March Air Force Base in Riverside, California and earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Contact Medal. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service, Lehigh Valley for 33 years advancing from the work floor to the finance department. He retired in 1992. He was also a graduate of the School of Radio Technology, New York and was a news and sportscaster known as Jack Meyers on WGPA, Bethlehem and in Liberty, NY. He was a member of the former Olivet Presbyterian Church, Easton where he served on session and was a trustee and deacon and was a member of American Legion, Post 611. Jack was also an avid Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers fan since 1939.

Surviving are his children, Steven Koch and his wife, Bonnie, and Susan Walter; and five grandchildren, Tim and Kalee Walter and Dakota, Mason and Kara Koch. His brother, Gene Koch and son-in-law, Craig Walter died earlier.

Private graveside services with military honors will be held at Northampton Memorial Shrine. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Thomas A. Wettlaufer

Thomas A. Wettlaufer, 76, of Washington Township, PA, died Wednesday, March 17, 2021 in St. Luke’s Hospital.

Born March 6, 1945 in Easton, he was a son of the late John P. and Elaine K. (Wagner) Wettlaufer. He and his wife, Linda (Beegle) Wettlaufer were married 50 years.

Thomas worked for PPL, Martins Creek for 32 years. Prior to that he worked for Bethlehem Corporation, Easton for 15 years. He was an avid fly fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman and he loved gardening.

Surviving with his wife, Linda are two daughters, Kristin Buehl and Stacey Berger and her husband, Craig; three brothers, John Wettlaufer, James Wettlaufer and Timothy Wettlaufer; four grandchildren, Nathan Stark-Buehl, Cristofer Buehl, Alex Berger and Andrew Berger. His sister, Priscilla Stocker died earlier.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 pm on Friday, March 19, 2021 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.
