George Ealer, 73, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2013 in Macon, Georgia. George was born and raised in Easton, Pennsylvania before moving to New Jersey, and later retiring to Warner Robins, Georgia.
George was a kind, gentle, wonderful man, who loved his family dearly. He was married 47 years to Mary Alice Ealer nee Lawton, whom he singularly adored and cherished. He loved and supported Mary as husband, friend, and as fellow athlete in the Golden Olympics and all manner of athletic competitions (including backyard quoit matches with his family).
If you were to ask George, his greatest accomplishments were his three sons, Tim, John and Jim. As a father, he was a steady hand and patient voice to help guide his kids through the good times and the bad. He was a doting grandfather to Chris and Katie, whom he watched grow from children into young adults during his retirement years in Warner Robins.
George loved flowers; his garden was a noted springtime color burst of daylilies, irises and roses. He was quick to share his expertise as Master Gardner and welcomed the entire community to share the beauty of his flowers.
Those who knew George will miss him dearly; they have lost a quiet and humble inspiration, partner, father, grandfather and friend.
George was born on February 22, 1940, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the son of Harriet and George Ealer of Easton, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Easton High School in 1959 and Lafayette College in 1962, and completed his Master of Science in Chemical Engineering at Stevens Polytechnic in 1968. He worked for Union Carbide Corporation and Dow Chemical in Bound Brook, New Jersey. He held several patents related to plastics and polyethylene, and was proud of his lifetime achievement award from the packaging industry group TAPPI in 1998. After 39 years of service, he retired in 2001 and relocated from New Jersey to Warner Robins.
George, a devout Christian, was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Easton and Christ United Methodist Church in Warner Robins. He was well known as the organizer of CMUC’s blood drives and saved countless lives through his work with the local Red Cross.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 24, 2013 in the St. Peter’s Memorial Chapel of St. John’s Lutheran Church, 330 Ferry St., Easton. Visitation from 10:30 am until service time in the church. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Children’s Home of Easton, 2000 S. 25th St., Easton, PA 18042.

I graduated from EHS with George and remember him as such a kind guy. After reading the wonderfully written obituary above it is apparent that George had a rewarding and fulfilling life which is what we all wish for when we are young! May all the wonderful memories you shared help you now and in the future.

George and I grew up on College Hill,Easton, and attended schools together from kindergarten through EHS Class 1958. We kept in touch by timely HS reunions and emails. The last time I saw him he was a table mate at dinner at our 50th HS reunion.
The loving obituary defines his special attributes. I might add he had a sharp sense of humor and mind; was very kind and loyal; and was very smart and talented in his business industry and gardening. A true Christian and gentleman with a magnetic smile!
He gave of himself with a positive spirit in many ways and will be missed.
My deepest sympathy and prayers to Mary and family~

Our deepest condolences to Mary Alice and George’s sons and their families.
From first grade on, George was always a fair, likeable, nice person – a quality human being.
He was perhaps one of the very best athletes to come out of March School whether in football, basketball, or baseball, a truly all-around guy.
I lost track of him while serving in the Air Force but we reconnected at our 50th reunion and kept in touch since then until his passing.
That he was a Christian was never in doubt.
A loss for all who knew him.
He will be missed.
