To George and all the Sullivans I send my sincere sympathy on Arlene’s passing.
Arlene and I have been friends since fourth grade when my Dad transferred into the office where Arlene’s Dad worked in Dover, DE. We became instant friends at Holy Cross School, perhaps because we were both Pennsy girls living in exile. We were always together, partners in processions at church and school, and buddies outside school. I can still see her pigtails swishing from side to side as she walked, as well as her broad, happy smile.
After my family moved back to PA when I was in fifth grade, Arlene and I saw each other a few times, but always corresponded on birthdays and at Christmas.
I surprised her two years ago with a call on her birthday and we spent an hour catching up and she told me she had been having memory problems. Then last year George replied to a birthday ecard I had sent with the bad news about her health. Rest in Peace, my Dover Buddy. Love, Helen

I taught 3rd Grade with Arlene at Tracy Elementary School. She was a dedicated teacher and one of the most intelligent women I have ever met. My heartfelt condolences to her family.
