Timothy George Hare, 73, passed from this life on July 4th, 2020 after a long struggle with cancer.
Born June 12, 1947 in Harrisburg, PA, he was the son of the late Eva (Starner) Hare and Frank Hare.
Tim was “larger than life” in many ways. Known in Easton for his signature white glasses, gift for lively conversation, magnetic smile and elegance, he will be sorely missed.
Having lived and worked around the world as a registered architect he came to especially love Easton and worked in 1976 to stop the destructive ‘urban removal’ plans slated to demolish much of the historic downtown.
Tim also published books of his fine pen and ink drawings of historic architecture. He last served as an Architectural Consultant with the Division of School Facilities in the PA Department of Education for over 11 years until retiring in 2009.
Over their 44 years together he and his husband, Earl D. Ball, participated in most Gay Pride marches since 1977 in NYC and elsewhere, pressing for LBGT rights and marriage equality, with numerous interviews. Finally they were legally married in Toronto, Canada in 2003.
He is survived by his husband Earl D. Ball and brothers John and Frank Hare.
At his request there will be no services though donations can be made to Lambda Legal, www.lambdalegal.org.
The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Our brother in law Tim was an interesting story teller (often with hilarious embellishments). He was loving and caring and had the greatest sense of humor. When he walked in the room we knew we were about to be entertained! We are all grieving the loss of Tim, but we know that soon the sadness we feel will turn into happy memories.

Earl, please accept our deepest sympathies. The love you and Tim share is a beacon. His laugh and smile and repartee will be sorely missed in our community. It is hard to imagine not seeing him walking the streets in his signature, stylish stride. His impact and legacy is as grand as he was. We feel lucky to have known him. You are in our hearts. Deeply.

I will never forget the larger than life man with white jeans and white glasses. His personality and love of Easton will always be remembered. “ It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.”

It was always such a pleasure to run into Tim and Earl during their strolls through town. They proudly shared their love story of 44 years with all of us— so we all felt so connected to them. Both with their individual accomplishments and together a dynamic duo. Tim will be so missed. There is no replacing such a special soul. We.send our love and condolences to Earl and wish him all the years of Great memories with Tim to guide him through the sadness of such a great loss. To Tim we hope you find an oblivion worthy of a life well lived.

As a first cousin we, along with your never forgotten sister Patty, were inseparable. We spent many fun times at NaNa and PopPop’s house as kids and always somehow managed to get in trouble! I will cherish forever our great memories.
To Earl….Torrey and I are so very sorry for the loss of your beloved husband. No words can be expressed to ease your pain, but know no one is truly gone until there is no one left to remember…..

Earl,
I just heard, and I’m so very sorry. I admired Tim enormously for his talent, but most loved him for the kind, thoughtful, loving person he was, along with his passion for justice and making a difference.
You are in my prayers, and if there’s anything I can do, please let me know.
Much love,
Martha
