Kay Jean Bisset, 85, of Palmer Twp., PA died Monday, March 8, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospice House. Born in Dunkirk, NY she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Jane (Bartlett) Johnston. She grew up in the Bradford, PA area where she graduated from Bradford High School in 1953. Upon graduating from Allegheny College with honors in 1957, she taught first grade for several years before and after her marriage to Allegheny classmate Jim Bisset in 1959. They lived in Philadelphia and Reading during Jim’s medical school and training. They became parents in 1961 with the birth of twin daughters and lived in Germany for three years while Jim completed service in the US Army before coming to Easton to practice medicine in 1969. Child rearing and volunteering then became her focus.
A dedicated volunteer, Kay was a Girl Scout leader, softball coach, member of Easton Hospital’s Junior Auxiliary, and she volunteered for the American Cancer Society, March of Dimes, American Heart Association and Meals on Wheels. She was also a member and secretary of the Board of Directors of the Weller Center for Health Education and President of its Apple Corps. She belonged to College Hill Presbyterian Church and Northampton Country Club. Kay enjoyed winters in Vero Beach, FL for 16 years, was an avid reader, and loved crossword puzzles, playing Bridge and being a grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dr. James F. Bisset, Jr.; twin daughters: Cathy Bisset (husband Chris Andrews) of South Salem, NY and Cindy Bisset of Marlton, NJ; 5 grandchildren: Justin and Zachary Andrews, Connor, Cailin and Claire Flannery.

The Werleys send our condolences and love to Jim, Cathy, Cindy and your whole family. Kay was a great friend to our mom for many years, and our parents enjoyed many good times with Kay and Jim in Easton and Vero Beach. We’ll miss Kay’s bright smile and interest in whatever we were doing.

I only had the good fortune to spend time with Mrs. Bisset a few times, but she was so kind and so welcoming! I liked her the moment we met. Dr. Bisset, too. Easton has lost a good friend, but will have many beautiful and fun memories of Kay.

I will sorely miss “catching up” with Kay! We go back to Junior High School together in Bradford, PA. We shared many laughs; many of these took place in French class! Kay was a loyal, fun gal! My sympathy goes out to her husband, Jim, her twin daughters, their husbands & dear grandchildren!

Jim, it is a sad day today to hear of Kay’s passing. I moved from Palmer over 30 years ago but have such fond memories of the time we spent raising our children, as well as time we spent with friends. My sympathy to you, your girls and their families.

Jim–Joanne and I grieve with you and your family. At this time-let all other memories fade-so that only hers persists. And may we all be aware of the miracle of it all.
