George T. Howells, Jr.

George T. Howells, Jr. 75 of Easton, PA died Friday, October 27, 2017 at Easton Hospital. Born November 10, 1941 in Jersey City, NJ he was a son of the late Helen (Trybus) and George Howells, Sr. Known as one of the finest chefs in the Lehigh Valley, he owned George Howells Food Service and was the Chef at the YR Club in Easton for 44 years and the Pomfret Club in Easton before retiring. He was a Master carpenter and animal lover who helped countless people with his generosity.

He is survived by: daughters: Dawn Magilton and her husband Tom of Palmer Twp., Linda Jane Howells and her fiancé Tom Matousch of Easton and her mother Linda Berardinucci; step-daughter: Jennifer Smoke and her husband Cliff of Mt. Bethel, PA; brother: Richard and his wife Mary of Pittston, PA; grandchildren: Krista, Christopher, Nicholas, Thomas, Eliza, Adalyn and Mason; and great-grandchildren: Kyler and Alyse. He was predeceased by sons: Thomas and George “Bim”, III; his first wife: Maureen (Smith);  a brother: Jack and sister: Dianne Sortino.

Services are 10:30 AM Wednesday (Nov. 1) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, with visitation 6 to 8 PM Tuesday. Interment is in Easton Cemetery.

Jean E. Ackerman

Jean E. Ackerman, 87 of Easton, PA died Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Cedarbrook Fountain Hill. Born August 19, 1930 in Phillipsburg, NJ she was the daughter of the late Paul and Alma (Hartzell) Walter. A 1948 graduate of Easton High School, she had been employed by the Easton Area School District for 6 years and Bnai Abraham Synagogue as their sexton for 25 years. She also enjoyed sewing for others.

She is survived by 3 children: Wade Kuzen and his wife Ann of Bethlehem, Anthony Cuvo and his wife Michele of Coopersburg, Wendy Boettger and her husband Richard of Manor, TX; 5 grandchildren: Maribeth, Christopher, Anastasia, Merry and Claire; and 3 great-grandchildren: Thian, Rebekah and Trinity.  She was predeceased by husbands: Donald Kuzen, Joseph Cuvo, Sr. and Eugene Ackerman.

Services are 1:30 PM Monday (Oct. 30) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with visitation 12:30 to 1:30 PM. Interment will be in South Easton Cemetery.

Denice M. Rinebold, 42 of Bethlehem died Saturday, October 21, 2017 at home. Born January 8, 1975 in Easton, PA she was a daughter of the late Pamela Sue Rinebold. She had been employed by First Union Bank and Cellular One.

She is survived by 2 children: Angelina and Zavion; grandmother: Patricia McGary; aunts, uncles & cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held 1 PM Friday, Oct. 27 in the Phillipsburg Alliance Church, 255 Lincoln St., Phillipsburg.

Robert L. Sullivan, 55, of Easton, died Monday, October 16, 2017.

Born in Lakehurst, NJ, he was the son of Mildred Charmaine (Coons) Sullivan and the late Alvin Eugene Sullivan.

Surviving with his mother are his wife, Amy (Davidson) Sullivan; daughter, Amanda Sullivan; sons, Michael and Glenn Sullivan; sisters, Patricia Sullivan and Robin LeFever and 3 grandchildren.

Glendora E. Freeman

Glendora E. Freeman, 75, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ, died Saturday, October 14, 2017 in ManorCare, Bethlehem.

Born August 23, 1942 in Easton, she was the daughter of the late Austin and Beatrice (Firman) Freeman.  Her husband, Joe L. Freemen died last month.

Glendora worked for Koh-I-Noor, Bloomsbury, NJ and also Glen Magnetics, Alpha, NJ.

Surviving are two daughters, Lorilynn Fearon of Rockaway, NJ and Leatrice Current of Newton, NJ; a son, Louis Freeman of Bangor; and six grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm on Thursday, October 19, 2017 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.

Samuel Samson Allen, 79 of Easton, PA died Friday, October 13, 2017 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg. Born September 19, 1938 in Boston, MA he was a son of the late Raymond and Genevieve (Bradshaw) Allen. He had been self-employed and a member of the Teamsters Union.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years: Filippa (Danubio) Allen; 14 children: Lynn Fox, Samuel Thornell, Sandra Barnett, Stella Lupi, Joe Allen, Jim Allen, Sherri Hostuttler, Carol Geho, Ed Paugh, Michelle Huff, Brian Allen, Daniel Allen, Christina Allen, Rachel Allen; sister: Virginia Frey; 39 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services are noon on Thursday, Oct. 19 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with visitation 11 to noon.

Margaret Alma Nagy

Margaret Alma Nagy, 95 of Easton, PA and previously Beverly Hills, FL died Friday, October 6, 2017 at home. Born July 29, 1922 in Wilkes-Barre, PA she was the daughter of the late Herbert Miller and Margaret (Appel) Miller Edelman. She and her husband George Nagy have been married 67 years. A graduate of Grand Army of Republic High School in Wilkes-Barre she had been employed by the Bell Telephone Co. for many years.

She is survived by: her husband, George; 4 children: Wayne French and his wife Maria in Peru, Kathleen McIntyre and her husband Tom of Conway, SC, Georganne Chiumento and her husband Dominick of Bethlehem, PA, George Nagy of Easton; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren.

Joanne Fischer

Joanne M. Fischer, 84, formerly of Easton, died Friday, October 6, 2017 in Fellowship Terrace, Whitehall.

Born January 5, 1933 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Charlotte (Banko) Schmidt.  Her husband, Carl J. Fischer, Sr., died in 2011.

Joanne was a cashier at Easton Hospital for 15 years and retired in 1988.  She was an active member of Grace Bible Fellowship Church, Nazareth, a past president of the Fairview School PTA, past president of the
Wilson Area High School Band Boosters and a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader.

Surviving are a son, Carl J. Fischer, Jr. and his wife, Julie; a daughter, Sharon L. Lantzer and her husband, Jeff; a sister, Jeanette C. Schmidt; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 6:30 pm on Monday, October 9, 2017 in Grace Bible Fellowship Church, 100 East Beil Ave., Nazareth.  A visitation will be held from 5:30 pm until service time on Monday in the church.  A gathering of family and friends will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.
