Ella S. Benzoni

Ella S. Benzoni, 94, formerly of Palmer Township, died Wednesday, February 3, 2016 in Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth.

Born November 18, 1921 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Bieber) Seitz. Her husband, Joseph E. Benzoni died in 2012.

She and her husband founded A & B Supply Co./Johnstone Supply.

She graduated from Wilson High School and attended Churchman’s Business School. Ella was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Church. She served as secretary of the URW Club and was a member of the Pomfret Club and the YR Club. She enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling, cooking, entertaining and round and square dancing and she was an avid bridge player.

Surviving are a daughter, Ellen Wallace and her husband, Tom of Bethlehem Township; a son, Joseph Benzoni and his wife, Lynn of San Diego; four grandchildren, Craig and Eric Wallace and Brandon and Justin Benzoni; and 2 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Thursday, February 11, 2016 in St. Jane de Chantal Church, 4049 Hartley Ave., Palmer Township. A visitation will be held from 6:30 — 8:00 pm on Wednesday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.

Brenda Lee Thomas

Brenda Lee Thomas, 63, of Easton, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016.

Born November 6, 1952 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of Thomas and Nancy (Rousset) Gebhardt.

Surviving are her parents; her husband, Earl Thomas; two sisters, Annmarie and Nancy and a brother, Tom. Her sister, Barbara died earlier.

Rebecca Gammage

Rebecca Gammage, 107, of Easton, died Sunday, January 31, 2016 in ManorCare, Palmer Township.

Born March 22, 1908 in Newton, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Virginia (Yarns) Burns.

She worked at JoAnn Dress Company, Easton and was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Forks Township.

Surviving are three daughters, Doletha Gammage of Easton, Elizabeth Hendricks of Atlanta, Georgia, and Willie Mae Thomas of Willingboro, NJ; a son, Willie of Bethlehem Township; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Her daughter, Rosie Parham and her son, Johnnie died earlier.

A visitation will be held from 5 – 6:30 pm on Friday, February 12, 2016 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 13, 2016 in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1403 Lieb Rd., Forks Township. Lillian I. “Rosie” “Tootie” Trimmer

Lillian I. “Rosie” “Tootie” Trimmer, 79, of Phillipsburg, died Thursday, January 28, 2016 in Praxis, Easton.

Born November 1, 1936 in Bangor, she was a daughter of the late Elwood and Orva (Hopper) Everitt. He husband, Edward W. Trimmer, Sr. died earlier.

She was a homemaker and stayed at home to raise her children. She later followed her passion and became a race horse trainer in New Jersey.

Surviving are three sons, Edward Trimmer, Jr. of Easton, Kevin Trimmer of Forks Township and Elwood Trimmer of Nazareth; three daughters, Sandra Rasley of Easton, Susan Keyser of Phillipsburg and Kathy Inman of Easton; a sister, Olive Ott of Whitehall; 16 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Two grandsons, James Schulte and Duane Winger and a great granddaughter, Aryan Winger died earlier.

Services will be private. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Raymond E. Wilkins

Raymond E. Wilkins, 89, of Easton, died Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in Easton Hospital.

Born December 11, 1926 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was a son of the late Raymond and Ada (Prout) Wilken.

He and his wife, Jeanette (Hinkel) Wilkins were married 66 years.  Raymond served in the Army Air Corps during WWII.  He worked at Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown for 20 years.  Prior to that he worked at Bell Telephone, Easton for 39 years.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of Trout Unlimited.

Surviving with his wife, Jeanette, are two daughters, Renee Wilkins of Easton and Cindy Badway of Ocala, Florida; a son, Raymond F. Wilkins of Easton; a sister Gloria James of Lancaster; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Services will be private.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Charles M. Sandwick, Jr.

Charles M. Sandwick, Jr., 89, formerly of Easton and Bangor, died Monday, January 25, 2016.

Born October 3, 1926 in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Charles and Jessie (Ramsay) Sandwick, Sr.

He and his wife, Anna Mae “Maisie” (Steckel) Sandwick, were married 48 years.  He was a teacher in the Bangor School District and was the track and field and cross country coach. He retired in 1982.  He was also a former mayor of East Bangor and was an insurance agent.  He graduated from Lehigh University and Temple University and served in the Navy during WWII.

He was a past commander of American Legion, Brown and Lynch, Post 9 and was a member of Ebenezer Bible Fellowship Church and a past president of the Sertoma Club.

Surviving with his wife, are two daughters, Linda Tona-Brooks of Bath and Susan Spencer of Texas; a sister, Grace Price of Easton; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  His sisters, Kathryn Harlan and Carol Osen died earlier.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 1, in Ebenezer Bible Fellowship Church, Bethlehem Twp.  A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until service time in the church.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

William J. Kummer, Sr.

William J. Kummer, Sr., 67, of Easton, died Sunday, January 24, 2016 in his home.

Born July 18, 1948 in Easton, he was a son of the late Louis A. and Mary (Geiger) Kummer.

He was a Pennsylvania State Constable for over 35 years and a parts salesman for Mack Trucks, Easton.

He was a member of the Bushkill Valley Motorcycle Club, Citizen’s Hose Co. and the Order of Fleas.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara (Fahringer) Kummer; two sons, William Kummer, Jr. of Nazareth and Robert Kummer of Bangor; two daughters, Debra Bowers of Bethlehem and Samantha Grant of Pottsville; two brothers, Ronald Kummer, Sr., of Easton and Louis Kummer, Jr. of Riegelsville; a sister, Fay Smith of Easton; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  A daughter, Stacie Rivers died earlier.

Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, January 29, 2016 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  A visitation will be held from 6 – 8:00 pm on Thursday in the funeral home.  Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Thomas S. Stem

Thomas S. “Tom” Stem, 72 of Allentown, PA formerly of Easton died Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. Born February 3, 1943 in Easton, PA he was a son of the late George and Claire (Benjamin) Stem.

A graduate of Easton High School, he had been employed by the Easton Area School District for more than 20 years. He was a longtime member of the Sertoma Club and attended Concepts of Lehigh Valley, Bethlehem for 18 years.

He is survived by a brother: George “Sherman” Stem of Nazareth, PA; 3 sisters: Carol Ann Stem of Forks Twp., PA; Mary Ellen Humes of Whitehall, PA; Elizabeth Smith of Easton, PA; nieces and nephews. A brother James died earlier.

A Graveside service will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday (Feb. 2) in Easton Heights Cemetery, N. 10th Street, Easton, PA. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.
