Clayton R. Resh, Jr.

November 2, 2013

Clayton R. Resh, Jr., 80, of Plainfield Township, died Saturday, November 2, 2013 in his home.

Born:  October 12, 1933 in Easton, he was a son of the late Clayton R. and Anna (Krome) Resh.

Personal:  He was a general inspector for McTish, Kunkel and Associates, owned Peerless Homes in the Lehigh Valley and served in the Army.

Memberships:  He was a member of Arndt’s Lutheran Church, Forks Township and the Optimist Club.

Survivors:  Daughter, Kristin E. Brainard of Knoxville, TN; son, Matthew C. Resh of Hellertown; sister Colleen Hayes of Slatington and his beloved dog, Woody Resh.  His brother, George Resh and his sister, Frieda Trauger died earlier.

Services:  A graveside service will be held at the Arndt’s Cemetery, Forks Township at 11:30 am on Wednesday, Nov. 6.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Robert A. Reuss, Sr.

November 1, 2013

Robert A. Reuss, Sr. 84, of Stockertown, died Friday, November 1, 2013 in his home.

Born:  July 17, 1929 in Easton, he was a son of the late John N. and Hilda (Jones) Reuss.

Personal:  His wife, the former Geraldine L. Fackenthal died in 2000.  He owned and operated the former City Service Gas Station, Stockertown, he founded Deerfoot Auto Parts, Wind Gap and was a member of Carpenter’s Union Local 600.

Survivors:  sons, Robert A. Reuss of Tatamy; Roland A. Reuss of Nazareth; John G. Reuss of Bethlehem; and James G. Reuss of Forks Township; daughter, Renee A. Von Steuben of Pen Argyl; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.  His brothers, William Reuss and John Reuss died earlier.

Services:  1:30 pm Tuesday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Call from 7 to 8 pm Monday in the funeral home.  Interment in Easton Cemetery.

Charles C. Chamberlin

November 1, 2013

Charles C. Chamberlin, 69, of Bethlehem Township, died Friday, November 1, 2013 in St. Luke’s Hospital.

Born:  November 3, 1943 in Altoona, he was a son of the late Chester and Martha (Friedhoff) Chamberlin.

Personal:  He and his wife, the former Agnes E. Ross were married 23 years.  He worked at Sam’s Club in Easton and Whitehall.

Memberships:  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Easton.

Survivors:  wife, Agnes; son, Jamie Ross of Bethlehem Township; brothers, Donald Chamberlin and Ronald Chamberlin; sister, Loretta McGraw.

Services:  Service will be private.  Arrangements by Ashton Funeral Home, Easton.

Asher J “Jack” Moser

October 28, 2013

Asher J “Jack” Moser, 94, of Easton, PA died Monday, October 28, 2013 surrounded by his loving family, after being stricken at home.

Born: May 7, 1919 in Easton, he was a son of the late Charles and Anna (Harrigan) Moser. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years: Josephine (Skears) Moser in 2010.

Personal: He had been employed by the Follett Corp., Easton for 22 years before retiring and was an accomplished musician who played multiple instruments including his favorite, the bass fiddle. Jack’s first job, at the age of 14, was playing with a band the night prohibition ended in 1933. He played with several groups including The Vagabonds, The Joe Squarcia Quartet and the Parke Frankenfield Orchestra. He also performed in USO shows during his tour of duty in the Army during WWII where he served in North Africa and Italy. Jack was a skilled wood craftsman who made grandfather and grandmother clocks and other treasures for his family.

Memberships: He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Easton.

Survivors: 4 children: R. James Moser and his wife Nancy of Bethlehem Twp., PA; Nancy Black and her husband Joseph; Patricia Shiroff and her husband Richard all of Williams Twp., PA; Charles Moser and his wife Patti of Lower Nazareth Twp., PA; a sister: Margaret Rothrock of Tatamy, PA; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife: Josephine and siblings: Seldon Schmoyer and Dolores Noe.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 31) in St. Bernard’s Oratory,  132 S. 5th Street, Easton; with visitation from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Joan R. “Becky” Vough

Joan R. “Becky” Vough, 53, of Forks Township, died Friday, October 25, 2013 in St. Luke’s Hospital.

Born:  August 29, 1960 in Passaic, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Joan (Gilmore) Powell.

Personal:  She was a graduate of Maricopa High School, Phoenix, AZ.

Memberships:  Becky was a member of the West Easton Fire Company.

Survivors:  Her significant other of 23 years, Gregory F. Mitek;  a son, U.S. Air Force Technical Sergeant Christopher Vough and his wife, Venessa of Washington; a daughter, Mallory Vough and her partner, James Siegfried of Nazareth; sisters, Lynn Powell Bishop of California, Heather Polich and her husband, Frank of New Mexico, and Lois Powell of California; brothers, Thomas Powell of Arizona, Jacques Powell and his wife, Jenny of Arizona, William Powell of Louisiana, and Peter Powell and his wife, Christine of New Mexico.

Services:  Services will be private.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Anna M. Wright

October 23, 2013

Anna M. Wright, 99, of Easton, died Wednesday, October 23, 2013 in ManorCare Health Services Old Orchard, Bethlehem Township, PA.

Born: October 12, 1914 in Easton she was a daughter of the late Harvey L. and Florence May (Schickley) Shively.

Personal: She had been employed by the Weller Electric Co. in Easton for 28 years before retiring in 1976.

Survivors: A daughter: Alice F. Baskwell of Easton; a son: Edgar J. Rape of Anchorage, AK; 2 grandsons; 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband: William H. Wright, Jr. in 2002 and a sister: Emily Weller.

Services: Will be held Graveside 1:30 p.m. Friday (10/25) in Easton Cemetery,  N. 7th Street, Easton; the Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Hugh H. Frank

October 20, 2013

Hugh H. Frank, 76, of Lower Nazareth Township passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Gracedale in the presence of his lovely wife of 20 years, Maria Frank.

Born:  March 16, 1937 in Allentown, he was the son of the late Samuel Edward and Margaret A. (Greismer) Frankenfield.

Personal:  Hugh had been a computer consultant before retiring in 2004.  He graduated from Liberty High School in 1955 and attended Allentown Business School, Churchman Business College, and Cedar Crest College.  He will always be remembered for locating and restoring the #10 Gordon Racing Team outboard midget race car that won the 1941 AAA Eastern Midget Championship with George Fonder driving.

Memberships:  Hugh was a member of the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing and the Eastern Auto Racing Historical Society.

Survivors:  In addition to his wife, Maria, Hugh is survived by Maria’s son, Lieutenant-Colonel Victor M. Pereira of the United States Air Force, his wife Kristin, and their daughters, Lily Bella and Reese Sophia and Maria’s daughter, Karen Pereira.

Services:  10:00 am Friday in St. John’s United Church of Christ, 183 S. Broad St., Nazareth.  Call from 9:00 am until service time Friday in the church.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

June D. Wolbach

June D. Wolbach, 86, formerly of Easton, died Saturday, October 19, 2013 in Masonic Village at Elizabethtown.

Born:  June 2, 1927 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Russell D. and Florence (Gruver) Dungan.

Personal:  Her husband, Norman Wolbach died in 2008.  She worked at Magnetic Windings, Spring Garden Nursery School, and The Easton Home for 17 years until retiring.

Memberships:  She was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church, Easton where she was a Sunday school teacher.  She graduated from Easton High School in 1945 and was a Girl Scout Leader.

Survivors:  Daughters, Kathleen Gerard and her husband, Ed of McVeytown, PA, Christine Treichler and her husband, Randy of Three Springs, PA, and Karen Carnes of Easton; sisters, Janie Hosier of Fairless Hills, PA and Flo Bernhardt of Forks Township; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  Her daughter, Carol Wolbach died in 2000.

Services:  1:00 pm Thursday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Call from noon until service time Thursday in the funeral home.  Interment in Easton Heights Cemetery.
