Sharon L. Williams

Sharon L. Williams, 51, of Bethlehem Township, died Sunday, October 13, 2013 in St. Luke’s Hospice House.

Born:  November 28, 1961 in Easton, she was a daughter of Jean S. Williams of Arizona and the late Roger L. Williams.

Personal:  Sharon was a graduate of Easton Area High School.  She earned her BS and MBA degrees from Moravian College.

Survivors:  mother, Jean; brothers, Scott Williams of Allentown, NJ and Stephen Williams of Palmer Township.

Services:  11:00 am Friday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Call from 10:30 am until service time in the funeral home.

Elmira Long

October 11, 2013

Elmira Long, 94, of Bangor, formerly of Palmer Twp., PA died Friday, October 11, 2013 in the St. Luke’s Hospice House.

Born: September 11, 1919 in Pittstown, NJ she was a daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Rupell) George.

Personal: She had been employed by Orr’s Department Store in Easton for many years.

Memberships: An avid camper, she and her husband were Charter members of the Coffee Trotters Camping Club. She was also a member of the Blue Ridge Pioneers Camping Club.

Survivors: Her husband of 72 years, Leonard L. Long; a daughter: Linda L. Fetherman and her husband Robert of Easton; a son: Larry L. Long and his wife Jean of Nazareth; 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (10/15) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton; with visitation from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Irene W. Bekhor

October 11, 2013

Irene W. Bekhor, 82 of Doylestown, PA died Friday, October 11, 2013 in the Pine Run Rehabilitation Center, Doylestown.

Born: June 28, 1931 in Easton, PA she was a daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Elvitsky) Wolpert.

Personal: She and her husband, the late Jamil Bekhor owned the House of Bekore  in Peddler’s Village, Lahaska for 17 years. She was a graduate of Churchman’s Business College and very active with the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors: Her sister: Sonya Guggenheim and her husband Morris of Doylestown, PA and 2 nieces and their husbands.

Services: Graveside, 10:30 a.m. Sunday (10/13) in the Children of Israel Cemetery, Arndt Rd., Easton, PA; the Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Memorial Contributiions: May be made to a charity or hospice of one’s choice.

Lyric Hazel Star LaBonne

Lyric Hazel Star LaBonne was stillborn, Thursday, October 10, 2013 in St. Luke’s’ Hospital, Allentown, PA. She was a daughter of Steven LaBonne and Megan Hammerstone of Wind Gap, PA.

Survivors: In addition to her parents, she is survived by 2 sisters: Kimberlina and Rorie; aunt: Tanya Everitt; and grandmother: Annmarie Knipple.

George W. Butz

October 9, 2013

George W. Butz, 90, of Palmer Twp. formerly of Stroudsburg died Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in ManorCare Health Services, Palmer Twp.

Born: May 27, 1923 in Bartonsville, PA he was a son of the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Keltz) Butz.

Personal: He had been employed by the Holland Thread Co. in Stroudsburg for many years, retiring from Keystone Food Products in Easton after  10 years.

Memberships: He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson Borough and the Ambassador’s Club.

Survivors: A step-daughter: Shirley Trinchere and her husband Angelo of Palmer Twp.; 4 grandchildren: Rosemarie Sullivan and her husband Tom; LouAnn Smoker and her husband Dan; Tony Trinchere and his wife Renee’; Bill Trinchere and his wife Sue; 7 great-grandchildren: Jen Haddad; Jillian Bruch; Jonathan Smoker; Megan, Kevin, Hannah and Josh Trinchere; and 3 great-great-grandchildren: Nathan and Katelyn Bruch; Valor Haddad. He was predeceased by his second wife: the former Virginia Masler in 2005; his first wife Ada in 1971; and siblings: Arlett Butz and Harriet Smith.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday (10/14) in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2115 Washington Blvd., Easton with visitation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Edward J. Squires

October 8, 2013

Edward J. Squires, 37, of Easton, PA passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013.

Born: June 15, 1976 in Norwich, NY he was a son of Peggy Wheeler and the late Gary Squires.

Personal: Ed attended Easton High School and graduated from The Vision: Paul Mitchell Partner School. He was previously employed by Dolly Madison in Easton, Top Diner in Allentown and most recently at Revolution Styling Factory in Bethlehem. Ed was full of life, a loyal, generous friend and a devoted loving father to his two cats: Jefferson and Harpo. He also enjoyed Monday night dinners with family members.

Survivors: Ed is survived by his mother; his siblings: Forrest Bonney, Paulena Newhard, Felcia Tomino, Gary & Diane Squires, Angel & Larry Cochran, Patricia & Mike Halavik, Rick & Andrea Rose, Tammie & Harry Mosher, Loretta & William Craw, Todd & Wendi Rose; his second mom: Debby Tomino; his companion Alex Rolon; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents and friends.

Services: A gathering to celebrate Ed’s life will be held October 27th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Northampton Community College, Alumni Hall (Gates Center), 3835 Green Pond Road, Bethlehem, PA (for directions go to www.northampton.edu); family and friends are asked to bring a covered dish, as able, for this potluck style celebration. A memorial service will be held in June in New York at a time to be announced.

Russell D. Parsons

October 7, 2013

Russell D. Parsons, 82, of Forks Twp., PA died Monday, October 7, 2013 in St. Luke’s University Hospital, Anderson Campus.

Born: March 12, 1931 in Easton he was the son of the late Russell and Josephine (Clark) Parsons.

Personal: A 1949 graduate of Easton High School, he attended Penn State and was in sales most of his life. He played varsity football for Easton under Coach Bob Rute and was the founder of the Bethlehem Twp. Bull Dogs. He was also a co-founder of the local Kidney Foundation and an avid New York Giants fan.

Memberships: He was a member of Schoeneck Moravian Church, Nazareth; the Varsity E Club and Easton YMCA.

Survivors: His wife of 10 years, the former Loraine Schoeneberger; 3 sons: Joseph Parsons and his wife Audria of Palmer Twp., PA; Russell Parsons of Lebanon, NJ; John Parsons and his wife Jenni of Forks Twp., PA; a daughter: Pamela Lutz of Forks Twp., PA; 3 step-children: Anthony Kraemer of Chesapeake, VA; Allene Rampulla and her husband Michael of Bethlehem, PA; Beth Ann Schlieper of Lakewood, CO; 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife: the former Sally Musumeci in 1989.

Services: Will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday in Schoeneck Moravian Church, 316 N. Broad St., Nazareth with visitation from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 14th and Northampton Sts., Easton and 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday  in the church. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Bertha L. Long

October 5, 2013

Bertha L. Long, 97, of Easton, died Saturday, October 5, 2013 in her home.

Born:  July 6, 1916 in Saskatchewan, Canada, she was a daughter of the late Alphonse and Marie (Albisser) Tournier.

Personal:  Her husband of 52 years, Frank R. “Dick” Long died in 1988.  She worked in the Easton Area High School cafeteria for many years.

Memberships:  Bertha was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Easton.  She was also a member of the PTA and was a volunteer for the March of Dimes.

Survivors:  Her son, Richard Long of Easton and a niece, Ruth Cameron and her husband Tom.  Two brothers, Raymond and Fernand and a sister, Mary Jane died earlier.

Services:  Services and interment will be private. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.
