Kenneth A. “Ken” Nier

Kenneth A. “Ken” Nier, 94, of Easton died peacefully Monday, September 3, 2012 at home.

Born: January 4, 1918 in Easton he was a son of the late William B. and Elfreda Robeson Nier. His wife, the former Joyce O. Seibel died in 2000.

Personal: He was a graduate of Easton HS Class of 1936 and Churchman’s Business College in 1938. After more than 34 years with Bethlehem Steel Corp., Billing Division, he provided accounting services to Geo. Seiple Scrap Metal and Concrete Deck. For three decades he was an instructor of brass instruments at Ken Brader Studios and was engaged in several local dance bands.

Memberships: An avid gardener and avid golfer, Ken was a past member of Harkers Golf Club and Northampton Country Club. He had 13 holes-in-one and shot his age several times. He was a member and past-treasurer of the Kiwanis Club of Palmer Township.

Survivors: 3 daughters: Cynthia J. Spinato and her husband Donald, Sr. of Phillipsburg, NJ; Carole M. Rapp of Forks Twp., PA; Judith E. Uhrich and her husband David of West Chester, PA; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Services: Will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton Street, Easton, PA with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.

Susan Marjorie Winter

Susan Marjorie Winter, 86, formerly of Forks Twp. and Freemansburg, PA died Wednesday, August 29, 2012 in Lehigh Valley Hospital- Muhlenberg.

Born: March 10, 1926 in Manhattan she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Anna Bober Tannenbaum.

Survivors: Her daughter: Paula E. Beahm and her husband Joseph of Freemansburg. She was predeceased by her husband William Winter in 2005 and 3 brothers: Paul, Stanley and Morton Tannenbaum.

Clara A. Stankus

Clara A. Stankus, 88, of Phillipsburg, NJ died Tuesday, August 28, 2012 in the Hunterdon Care Center, Flemington, NJ.

Born: June 5, 1924 in Scranton, PA she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Rachael Baum Roth. She and her husband, Peter J. Stankus, Sr. have been married for 64 years.

Personal: She was employed by the former Dixie Cup Co. and Garden State Ice Cream Co. for several years.

Memberships: She had been a member of the former St. Mark’s UCC.

Survivors: Her husband; a son: Peter J. Stankus, Jr. of Buford, GA; a daughter: Linda Jacukowicz and her husband Leonard of Pittstown, NJ; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers: Arthur, William and Charles Roth and sister: Elizabeth “Ann” O’Connor.

Services: 11: 00 a.m. Friday (Aug. 31) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with visitation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

William B. Laughlin

William B. Laughlin, 78, of Freemansburg, PA died Thursday, August 23, 2012 in Liberty Nursing Center, Allentown.

Born: February 21, 1934 in Easton he was a son of the late Phillip and Margaret Laughlin. His wife, the former Constance R. Williams died in May.

Personal: He was a Korean War Navy veteran.

Memberships: He had been a member of the former Easton Mennonite Church.

Survivors: A son: Robert Reed and his wife Joanne of Stroudsburg, PA; a daughter: Robin Laughlin of Hellertown; and grandsons: Adam and Eric Reed and Eric’s wife Brianne.

Ricco J. Price

August 22, 2012

Ricco J. Price, 48, of Easton died Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at home.

Born: December 12, 1963 in Easton he was a son of Doris (Greenleaf) Price Olsen with whom he resided and the late John Price.

Personal: He participated in activities at the Twin Rivers Club House in Easton and Haven House in Allentown. Ricco also loved spending time by the river.

Survivors: His mother: Doris; step-father: Larry Olsen; sister: Tina Kantong and her husband Sarno of Palmer Twp.; brothers: Joseph and William Price of Easton; and a nephew Jonathon.

Services: A time for remembrance will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 29 at the Easton Community Drop-In Center (formerly  Twin Rivers Club House), 60 N. 4th St., Easton. Interment will be private in Hays Cemetery. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Arvids V. Dzenis

Arvids V. Dzenis, 92, formerly of Easton, died Thursday, August 16, 2012 in St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Gibsonia, PA.

Born:  May 8, 1920 in Liepaja, Latvia, he was a son of the late Edvards and Katrine (Spirgis) Dzenis.

Personal:  His wife, Erika (Lusis) Dzenis died in 2006.  He was a draftsman for Ingersoll Rand, Phillipsburg for 40 years.

Memberships:  Arvids was a member of St. Paul’s III Lutheran Church, Palmer Township where he served as treasurer.

Survivors:  Two sons, Edward A. Dzenis of Mars, PA and Eric T. Dzenis of Waldwick, NJ and two grandchildren.

Services:  1:00 pm Tuesday in St. Paul’s III Lutheran Church, 2561 Newburg Rd., Palmer Township.  Call from 7 – 8:30 pm Monday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.

Patricia A. Drabent

August 11, 2012

Patricia A. Drabent, 65, of Bethlehem Twp., died Saturday, August 11, 2012 in her home.

Born: August 5, 1947 in Easton she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Harriet Bass Drabent.

Personal: She was a graduate of Easton High School and the Easton Hospital School of Nursing. She had been employed in the ER at Easton Hospital; as Director of Sales for National Audio Visual Association; Eazor Express; Westgate Global Logistics and as National Accounts Sales Rep for Kingsway Motor Express.

Memberships: She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Easton and served on the Board of Directors for the LV Traffic Club and Delta Nu Alpha Chapter 54.

Survivors: Her many friends and “the boys”: her cats Simon and Gus.

Services: Will be private. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Arthur Robert Caul, Sr.

Arthur Robert Caul, Sr., 70, of Easton died Saturday, August 11, 2012 in the VNA Hospice House of St. Luke’s Hospital.

Born: March 25, 1942 in Logan, WV he was a son of the late Bula Caul Dickerson Clancy. He and his wife, the former Delores Fredericks shared 37 years together.

Personal: He had been employed by Lisbon, Anrich and Pact Construction in New Jersey for 45 years before retiring in 2008.

Memberships: He was a member of numerous professional associations and attended St. John’s Lutheran Church, Easton.

Survivors: His wife; children: Arthur Robert Caul, Jr. of Phillipsburg; Toni Michelle Hickman of Mann, WV; Krystal Malaika Caul-Mays of Easton; Diana Arenean Evans of Prince George, VA; sister: Ravella Dickerson in NC; 12 grandchildren and a great grandson. He was predeceased by siblings: Rondo; Mary Julia and Sheila.

Services: A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday (8/17) in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 330 Ferry St., Easton with a calling period from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday in the church. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.
