Marion Ziev

July 28, 2011

Marion Ziev, 88, of Easton, died Thursday, July 28, 2011 in her home.

Born: July 6, 1923 in Brookline, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Abraham and Dora Walg.

Personal: Her husband, Saul Ziev died in 1973.

Memberships: She was a member of Temple Covenant of Peace, Easton.

Survivors: Three sons, Joel H. Ziev and his wife Barbara of Bethlehem; David M. Ziev of Bethlehem and Arthur H. Ziev and his wife, Meri of Florida; six grandchildren, Stefanie, Julie, Stacie, Matthew, Natalie and Jason; four great grandchildren and two daughters-in-law, Debra Ziev and Marilyn Ziev.

Services:  A graveside service will be held on Sunday at 1:00 pm in Easton Cemetery, North 7th Street. The Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton is handling the arrangements.

Preben O. “P.O.” Pedersen

July 27, 2011

Preben O. “P.O.” Pedersen, 83, of Easton formerly of Clinton, NJ died Wednesday, July 27, 2011 in Praxis Nursing Center.

Born: July 21, 1928 in Aalborg, Denmark.

Personal: He and his wife, the former Hanna V. Jorgensen were married 58 years.  He was a manager for F. L. Schmidth and Co. Lebanon, NJ for over 40 years and retired in 1982.

Memberships: He was a member of The Royal Guard of Denmark.

Survivors: wife, Hanna; son, Peter C. Pedersen and his wife Dori of Cresco, PA; two daughters, Mary Ann Carroll and her husband, Roger of Palmer Township and Christina Moyer and her husband, Dave of Moscow, PA; two sisters and a brother in Denmark and three grandchildren.

Services: Services will be private. The Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton is handling the arrangements.

Donald P. Flyte

July 26, 2011

Donald P. Flyte, 82, of Palmer Twp., died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 in St. Luke’s Hospital.

Born: October 5, 1928 in Easton, he was the son of the late Paul and Anna Kolb Flyte. He was a loving, devoted and exceptionally caring husband for 62 years to Doris (Marsh) Flyte.

Personal: He was a Corrections Officer at the Northampton County Prison for many years before retiring. Prior to that he was employed by Sheridan Machine in for many years.  A 1948 graduate of Easton High School, he served in the Navy during WWII.

Memberships: He was a member of Dallas-Lafayette Lodge #396, F & AM; Tin Can Sailors US Navy Destroyer Veterans; and American Legion, Brown & Lynch Post #9, where he was known as the driver of the “command car”. He was also an avid Red Rovers and Penn State fan and proud grandfather and biggest cheerleader at his grandsons’ sporting events.

Survivors: daughters: Dolores Gordon and her husband Dennis of San Diego; Debra Price and her husband Michael of Palmer Twp.; Donna Barney and her husband Albert of Kunkletown; grandsons: Shawn and Justin Gordon and  great-grandchildren: Madison, Ryan, Reilly and Reis. He was predeceased by his best buddy, his dog “Lucky.”

Services: 10 a.m. Monday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton; visitation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday with Masonic Service at 7:15 p.m. Interment Northampton Mem. Shrine.

Marie G. Unger

July 24, 2011

Marie G. Unger, 91 of Palmer Township died Sunday, July 24, 2011 at home.

Born: August 28, 1919 in Bayonne, NJ she was a daughter of the late Peter and Mary Macko Dominach. Her husband Alfred G. Unger died in 1964.

Personal: she had been employed by the Diehl Corp. in Manville, NJ for several years.

Survivors: 2 daughters: Carolyn, with whom she resided and Marilyn S. of Palmer Twp. She was predeceased by 10 siblings.

Services: Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Jane Frances DeChantal Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Ave., Palmer Twp. with a calling period from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 14th and Northampton Sts., Easton. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.

Memorials: may be made to the Center for Animal Health and Welfare, 1165 Island Park Road, Easton, PA 18042.

Shawn P. Schoenberger

July 21, 2011

Shawn P. Schoenberger, 42, of Swiftwater, PA died Thursday, July 21, 2011 at home.

Born: December 11, 1968 in Easton he was a son of Kathleen Sharon DeRemer Gray of Center Valley, PA and the late Robert Schoenberger. He and Genna Foster have been together for 12 years. Personal: An army veteran, he had been employed as a welder.

Survivors: his mother and her husband: Mark Gray;  Genna; 3 daughters: Leah and Kylie Schoenberger, Madison Foster; son: Matthew Foster all at home; 3 sisters: Ann Mary Garcia of Bonifay, FL; Carrie Zeigafuse and her husband Dan of Whitehall; Jennifer Sanchez and her husband Robert of Northampton; and grandmother: Helen Schoenberger of Bethlehem. A son, Shawn E., died earlier.

Services: a calling period will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 14th and Northampton Streets, Easton.

John A. Caponigro

July 14, 2011

John A. Caponigro, 62, of Bangor died Thursday, July 14, 2011 at home.

Born: August 25, 1948 in Easton, he was a son of the late Jerry and Pauline Ronayne Caponigro. He and his wife, the former Linda Walsh, have been married for 35 years.

Personal: A graduate of Easton High School and East Stroudsburg University, he owned and operated Utopia in Downtown Easton for 30 years and had served in the National Guard.

Survivors: his wife Linda; sons: Steven Sutphin and Cory John Caponigro both of Easton; sisters: Rosalie Gee in CA, and Brenda Stahley in FL. He was predeceased by a brother: Jerry Caponigro.

Services: will be private; the Ashton Funeral Home, 14th and Northampton Streets, Easton is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy M. Dorneman

Dorothy M. Dorneman, 85, of King of Prussia, PA, died Thursday, July 7, 2011 in Country Meadows, Bethlehem Township.

Born: April 13, 1926 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Albert R. and Dorothy E. (Boehner) McCullough.

Personal: Her husband, William J. Dorneman, Sr. died in 2004.

Memberships: She was a member of Lower Providence Presbyterian Church, Norristown and a long time volunteer at ManorCare, King of Prussia.

Survivors: Two daughters, Susan Smallets and her husband, Michael of Nazareth and Nancy Abrams and her husband, Gerry of Eagleville, PA; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A son, William J. Dorneman, Jr. and a brother, Robert McCullough died earlier.

Services: 11:00 am Thursday, July 14 in Boyd-Horrox Funeral Home, 200 W. Germantown Pike, Norristown with a visitation from 10:00 am until service time. Additional visitation from 7 – 8:30 pm Tuesday, July 12 in Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment in George Washington Memorial Park, Plymouth Meeting.

Otha L. “Woo” Truss

Otha L. “Woo” Truss, 55, of Easton, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in Easton Hospital.

Born: October 2, 1955 in Zolfo Springs, FL, he was a son of the late Roy, Sr., and Mazell (Malone) Truss.

Personal: He was married to Joanne (Smith) Truss and he was a wonderful father, husband, grandfather and a friend to all.

Memberships: He was a member of Open Bible Evangelical Church of God in Christ, 1412 Lehigh St., Easton.

Survivors: wife, Joanne; son, Craig Kolbe and his wife, Cindy of Wilson Boro; a grandson, Craig, Jr.; three brothers and four sisters.  Two brothers and a sister died earlier.

Services: A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Friday in Open Bible Evangelical Church of God in Christ, 1412 Lehigh St., Easton. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.
