I knew Tom at the time when Phil Mitman was running for Mayor and for years after that. Easton was facing many challenges, and the slate of candidates at the time were certainly up to the job. Tom was a warm-hearted but hard-headed businessman who never failed to give encouragement, guidance and support to those with whom he shared the duties of community. His word was his bond. His vision for Easton was enthusiastic, patient, and infectious. Those of us who were younger know now that we stood on the shoulders of giants.

Tom was a long time friend and confidant. Together we enjoyed many rousing conversations, plus some fine wines. He was a fighter for what he believed in. A true man of integrity, honor, and service.
Until we meet again… you are missed!

I am sorry to hear of Tommy’s death. He was a part of a special group of kids in the summers of the 50’s known to ourselves as the “River Rats”. It was such a wonderful time!! May he rest in peace.

Ray and I have missed your presence at your favorite corner. You were one of the first people I met when we joined Northampton ten years ago. We were on the bus for your last wine trip to Philadelphia and had a wonderful time. You even looked up the family genealogy and connected Ray to you as some kind of cousins. It was great knowing you Tom and you are missed. Fondly, Judie

Dear Tim and Jim, Please know that you and all your family have been and are in my prayers. I was fortunate to know your brother, Tim, and your father, Jim, for many years as a College Hill neighbor and his dedication and hard work for the City of Easton and Children’s Home. We shared much pride in LAFAYETTE and Zeta Psi Fraternity.
There are places in the heart where memories live and love endures. May you and all your family find comfort and peace from the memories and love in your hearts. May you all find strength from the sympathy and concern of those who care deeply.

    Very sincerely,
    Kirk Colton

Mayor Goldsmith was a participant in an Northeastern Mayor’s Institute on City Design that I directed in the 1990’s at the University of Maryland. I was struck by his intelligence and passion for Easton. He clearly loved his hometown and it seemed to me that he wanted to do everything he could to make it a better place to live and work. He was an active and terrific participant in the Institute and I very much enjoyed getting to know him and also enjoyed bumping into him at subsequent meetings. Although I have never been a resident of Easton, I am quite sure he made a difference for the citizens of the city. A terrific guy! Please accept my sincere condolences, albeit, a little late.
